Your Name is good and gets a lot of hate for some reason but I really love A Silent Voice a little better probably because its more emotional and realistic
I felt the same way, I think a silent voice is more easily attachable because of how people can relate to the situations in the story more

tbh your name kinda bored me but a silent voice had me crying the whole time, the characters were more interesting to me, and also i really like the fact that they used a deaf character's bullying as such an important point- feels like representation done right to me

Personally I feel like Your Name had more of an effect on me than A SIlent Voice did. But the message A Silent Voice was trying to make was very different than any other anime I've watched. Both are masterpieces in there own regard. and also the characters in A Silent Voice are much more memorable than in Your Name. BOTH HIT DIFF
I can see where you're coming from I just think that the story of a silent voice had me on edge and more emotionally attached than your name but both are great films
I much prefer Your Name. It's all around a better movie than A Silent Voice and really lived up to the hype. The movie does have some flaws, but nothing that ruins it for me. I never felt lost throughout the movie, I was engaged the whole time. This movie was an experience for me, it gave me the same feelings that I got when I watched Star Wars for the first time. Just an incredible movie all around.
I did like A Silent Voice but I didn't think it was that good. The first 20 minutes is very powerful, but the rest of the movie is all over the place and very uneven. Plus, I don't think the movie is a good adaptation of the manga.
Now having said all that, I don't see the point of comparing the two movies because they are completely different from each other. You can like both or like one over the other, but don't pit these two movies against each other, I think that's really silly.
I don't know if id call it silly, I think that these movies are both masterpieces tbh and I loved them so much that I was curious to see how other people felt that's all. I also think that the two are very similar when it comes to their drama aspects and how they overcome their set of problems.

A silent voice was one of the few animes that i actually shed a tear to. Your name was also an intresting movie but didn't took my full attention for the whole length.

Personally, i loved them both! But I'd have to say my favourite is your name, i just really loved the visuals and cool concept! But, A silent voice is also one of my favourites!

I refused to argue in this specific debate because every time I do. I swear friendships start breaking. Neither are better than the other cause they are both great movies..

Koe no Katachi has a way better plot and resolve than Kimi no Na wa. Both films have great artwork but I think I prefer the art in Koe no Katachi. Overall, I definitely prefer A Silent Voice.
A Silent Voice hit different for me cause I experienced bullying as a kid, and it's way more emotional and realistic than Your Name. One of the few anime that made me ugly cry twice

skipped my favorite parts, and, like, all the character development for the side characters. It would have been better as a 12 episode series or something.
Your name feels like a more complete movie, while I felt that a silent voice felt much more like Akira, it couldn't fit all the story it was trying to tell in the length of a movie.

The only 10/10 parts of Your Name are the visuals and the Soundtrack.
Radwimps did an amazing job on the soundtrack and it fit perfectly.
The visuals were also top tier.

While A Silent Voice doesn't have a 10/10 soundtrack (the OST is still great tho).
The 10/10 parts of A Silent Voice are: Visuals (KyoAni doing their job), Story, Characters... basically everything besides the soundtrack.
I love every part of A Silent Voice, there wasn't a single minute i was bored or checked how much time i had left of the movie.
I just sat there enjoying the movie.

Both movies should be watched, but whenever these two are compared, it always leads to Your Name getting a lot of hate. For me, I think both of the movies are very different from each other. One is more fantasy based and the other is more realistic. The one thing both movies do have in common is that element of human connection.
