nazoApr 11, 2024290 replies30K viewsHey everyone, as some may have already seen from our posts on April 1, @TehNut and I are officially the new co-owners of AniList! We have had many ideas swirling around in our heads for the future betterment and development of the site.
Here's some of the things you can expect to see us working on:
- Site stability
- New API version
- More frequent site updates
- A mobile app
- Many other large features we have on the roadmap (please continue making suggestions in the forum!)
Some of these things will come sooner than others, but rest assured we will be pushing towards these goals and more.
We hope you will support us in our efforts to further develop AniList!

Good to see new AniList development! Some questions:
New API version
Is there any place to follow updates for this or potentially discuss changes before they go live? (and please don't say Discord)
A mobile app
Wouldn't this be somewhat of a wasted effort. In my opinion the mobile site works mostly fine and with some tweaks to that you won't have to spend time maintaining a web version and two apps (ios/android).

The only thing that can't be done on the mobile site as far as I remember, is using the sliders in the browse... which sure isn't much...

You can already do that, anime submissions are just temporarily closed due to the size of the queue as well as an incident with the search that resulted in many duplicate submissions

That submission is still pending, you can check the progress in your profile's submissions tab

Awesome news. Can I suggest a few site features?
As @rockerLs suggested, a recommendation system for characters would be really nice, but I'd also like one for staff. It would be useful to find directors with similar style, singers and bands with similar music, mangaka with similar art, etc..
And another suggestion relating to the recommendation system, let us add recommendations of different formats. Like, right now, under light novels you can recommend other light novels, under manga you can recommend other manga, and same for anime, but it would be cool if you could recommend light novels under manga, or anime under light novels. Maybe add a tab where you can choose which media format to view (something like the image below?) I think it would be quite useful.

aaand I have an idea for an upgrade:
making chatrooms about different topics. Not as a forum but more of connect each other in realtime.

It literally just changed recently?? My in-progress anime and manga on the home page aren't seperated on different lines anymore, they're all lumped into the same row now. It doesn't even way whether they're an anime or manga anymore at a glance from the home page.

That is how its worked for years. Its because of how many you have in your list. Again nothing has changed
