My waifu , I hope you're not dead and gone . Last ep it was Nanami and now it's Nobara ...what the hell is going on with Jjk, maan ....even though i know all this cuz of manga... Seeing this in anime form tears me up real bad ?. This just left a scar bruh ??? I don't think it's gonna heal anytime soon

Animation wise this episode was gorgeous, every frame was just incredible... I mean it's Mappa , so i guess it's pointless in telling how good these episodes look ?

That was the roughest episode so far, had me on edge for the whole time... Not Nobara! :(
Episode itself also looked pretty good apart from a few single shots. I hope they can keep it up until the finale!
Can't wait for next week, I just want to see Itadori pummel Mahitos face into indiscernible mush.

Love the fight choreography and the fact that Mahito made his genius plan to touch Nobara. Probably one of my fav ep of JJK.

Man what is this edgefest and why they gotta stretch the whole episode over a meaningless backstory just so the character's death can be a tearjerker. Can't wait for whatever shonen character plot armor boost yuuji will get next episode. 10/10 animation. 6/10 episode.

  i really enjoy this show but you're not wrong. it was obvious she was gonna die as soon as she got touched yet they thought a 6 minute flashback would fit in well there? surely would have been better with the flashback earlier on then a small nobara monologue before her face explodes or whatever happened

I NEED MAHITO TO SUFEFR THE MOST TORTUROUS, PAIN INDUCING DEATH POSSIBLE. OH MY GOSHHHH I HATE THIS THING. He's such a good villain and I hate that I love that about him. Gege is the biggest enemy to my mental health. Next week I need Yuuji to get his get back for now two of his fallen friends.

  Same thoughts. Resurrections and plot armors are a huge turn off to me, takes a lot of gravity out of any scene.

Surprisingly polished episode, the main staff just carries. Love Kato’s sequence, but also clean walking cycles later which is not a given anymore. Of course, you can still see the cracks but it’s much less than the previous episode for instance.
Story-wise… Nobara might be dead. I say “might”, because fake-out deaths are a thing. Still a bit skeptical, although I kinda hope that she dies because it would make the story more interesting. It’s kinda interesting how everything just crumbles within only a few episodes - Sukuna killing all humans within the barrier, Nanami dying, and now Nobara. However, I am disappointed how Nobara’s character writing still is subpar in comparison to Itadori and Fushiguro. She’s likable, don’t get me wrong, has some good moments as well but that’s it. Her backstory is just okay, there is no proper motivation why she’s risking her life fighting curses (if she wanted to go to Tokyo she could’ve also just went there for other reasons, maybe get a job with a higher survival rate so she has more time to find Saori, I don’t know). Feels like Gege can only write female characters when he makes them act manly like Maki. I also didn’t care much for the flashback in the 2nd half. It changed the backstory in hindsight for no reason except maybe trying to build emotional tissues I guess, but young Nobara is cute.
I mainly need Mahito vs Yuji to be good now. There is a lot of build-up with Nobara and Nanami to make Yuji “break”. So I hope the pay-off is good because it can break or make the last stretch of episodes work (I also said that I approve of main characters being killed but it needs to be at the expense of building Mahito and Yuji as characters and their dynamic. Killing characters just for shock is kinda cheap and it would be a pity if this turns out to be the case).

this is adapted my favorite chapter from my favorite arc of any manga/anime I've read/watched and I'm so happy with how it turned out
the flashback scene gave really strong shaft vibes (like monogatari/3-gatsu no lion) to me which really brought the atmosphere together for me

this. I know I was hoping the whole way through the flashback that the flashback would be showing a reason she wouldn't die. Given hope then having it taken felt like a punch in the gut

  A sudden flashback right after an unfortunate event is one of the oldest and worst tricks in the book. It turned, "Yeah, Mahito slapped her, but no way she will die, right?" into "Lmao, she is definitely dying as soon as this flashback ends"

Exactly what I'm saying it just feels like a cheap tearjerker and highlights further that they've not given enough time to these characters they're writing off for the viewer to have any attachment to them. Like i love jujutsu kaisen for the animation but i find it hard to look past moments like this which highlight the bad(subjective) of jujutsu kaisen.

"build suspense" is this your first anime? like i said, everyone knew she was going to die as soon as the flashback started. i never said to skip the backstory, just it should have been played earlier in the episode or maybe she should have been actually fleshed out in the previous 45 episodes we've had. the show is already incredibly rushed with the large ensemble cast that means not everyone gets properly developed (as per every anime ever with a large cast).
gege wants to make an emotional death that affects the viewer the same way it affects the main character but wants to spend more time introducing and doing backstories for other side characters instead. you can't have your cake and eat it. no proper development into this character leaves the death feeling flat. the crammed flashback is even worse because it gives the viewer too long to come to terms with her death.
what happened with jogo vs nanami, maki and naobito worked so well because he's on screen for seconds before incinerating these 3 characters. we never get proper full development with all of them so the shock value works as a decent substitute.
the previous episode ends with mahito saying he'll drag nobara's corpse before itadori after he's said he has another trump card, so things are looking bad for nobara at the beginning of this episode. starting with the flashback to make the viewer theorise if she'll die only to have the tables turn with the reveal he can't use his technique as a clone and him running after nobara nails him with resonance then gives the viewer hope the foretelling of her possible death was just a red herring to then have it turn back very quickly as nobara dies fits much better imo.
