Rudius never sees himself as a hero or something like that. He himself has stated multiple times that he's a pathetic loser and even tried to kill himself for some stupid reasons. Bro knows he was such a loser in the old world, he doesn't even regret staying in this world. The whole first arc of the 2nd ss is about his mental issues. He had ED just bc 1 girl dumbed him, tried to isolate himself but was desperate for human connection at the same time. Made a lot of mistakes that bit him in the ass. But at least that loser is still trying something to help himself, not much, but he's getting there eventually. That's the charm of this show, a coming-of-age type of story, a LONG journey, a story where ppl can see how and why the mc slowly changes to be better. Not some "26 eps of insufferable characters(some cool mechs too I admit) and boom, throwing stupid scenes and manipulating the braindead fans that's character development" type of show.

In any case, nobody is looking to downplay or justify Rudy's actions there lol. Nobody defending the dude. Everyone agrees he was in the wrong. so idk why youre trying to make this out like this one offscreen incident is meant to indict the entire series as being "isekai porn".
