I feel bad for Julie... Even though they may have saved her, she still won't really be able to live a normal "free" life, since she'll still be a slave who has to sculpt.

So I hope that changes in future episodes, and she'll be given more freedom...

What can I say?

What a high quality EP. I love the interactions between Fitz and Rudy and how strong the friendship of Rudy and Zanoba is getting.

Juliette scene was beautiful, it had a beautiful ost, making the moment a lot more impactful, and she's just the cutest thing in the world. When she was following Zanoba throughout the room picking up papers, THAT melted my heart, it's adorable.
Can't wait to keep watching :] have a nice day!

I will say it like that. In this series almost everything that happens, have it's direct/indirect consequences in future. Today episode had some KEY EVENTS that will have big impact later. Good episode overall, new chara, some messing with Rudeus' orientation. Tbh, if I remember correctly it is pretty accurate toward the novel. Hyped for next episode, from now it will only get better.

Rudeus out here questioning his sexuality because of Sylphie lol. Not a big fan of slave plot lines but i like how it was done here, the scene with Rudeus and Juliette was really good.

ngl the whole slave market just feels wrongs, and how non-chalant rudy is, like one of the season 1 plot points was about saving slaves and now were just seeing a market, yeah im probably wrong but i kinda felt weird about the slave market

He has no other choice, 1 he can't just liberate them thats not how it works and he no longer has ruijerd to help, hes not some sort of god, and back then when he saved them, he didn't even really make the decision it was RUIJERD who wanted to save them,
Especially during the fight with the north god style gallus cleaner rudeus was literally going to let him go, rudeus wasn't liberating them to be heroic he was liberating them so that they'd owe him.
I don't know where you developed the sense of "Saving slaves" is a plot-point but it most certainly wasnt LOL.

For those wanting to know, the slave plot point doesn't end here. It will get covered properly, and doesn't get gleaned over. Like everything in this series, just give it time. How long did it take for Eris to stop being a POS? How long before Rudy stopped treating women like pieces of meat?

Let the show cook, trust me.

Episode was great though, super faithful to the source and the pacing was great.

Before I wrote this I read the chapter in the novel to educate myself and give the best I can.

To my knowledge people are complaining about the "Slavery Trope" as if thats not in every isekai ever, it's kind of sad because people are making it seem as if was utterly unwatchable, some of them are even making it out to seem like they were enslaved in some deluded past life of theirs.

This episode was amazing, the pacing and everything was great, 10/10.

Some people are quite literally misjudging or saying Rudeus is somebody he isnt, The reason he wasn't affected is because it's common, and he's already seen it before when he got kidnapped by the dedoldia tribe, he had no reason to be shocked or surprised he just had to hold it in. Now although he isn't that disgusted in the manga and only says "It was a painful sight" etc, how is supposed to react?? I'd like genuine feedback on this, because to me it just seems like a bunch of crying and ranting, about some dumbass trope. What the hell was he supposed to do, not go there??

Like come on, I think most of you are just sensitive ngl or just like to complain.

The monologues of Rudeus in the part of the scleros, how he relates what he feels and not the indifference he showed in the chapter, the disgust with which he relates the part of Juliet and his memory of the past as he saw himself reflected in her. I still recommend that if you don't read the novel, check out the manga where all the events are shown in a more crude way.

  You're right, we only have a 21st century Japanese man who should despise slavery (and we've got precedent of him despising it in LN4, which is somewhere in the second cour of s1) yet shows no negative reaction at all when confronted with the idea of buying slaves. Not only that but, even though it's cut in the anime, he's the one to suggest the young slave should be a girl.
  Ah, did I also mention he tells a 6-year-old orphan girl that he understands how she feels as he compares his depression to being the exact same thing as her being a slave?
  Or the part where he doesn't even pay attention to Julie saying the names of her parents?
  Or the part where he's smiling and having fun conversations while surrounded by human beings in captivity, even making jokes to himself seeing Fitz staring at a slave's penis?
  Rudeus is supposed to be our point of reference, our connection to the real world, and the author wrote him to not only being okay with slavery (out of nowhere since he used to not be okay with it) but also endorsing it.
  This is an author in 2014 (around when this was written in the WN) having his self-insert participating gladly in slavery.
  Should other characters hate slavery? No, not necessarily. I do not expect a prince in the middle ages (Zanoba) to be against slavery, nor someone who lived in the royal court for 4 years (Sylphy) to not have gotten at least a bit accustomed to it. They are perfectly fine depictions of their social classes in their context.
  The problematic part is Rudeus and how slavery is portrayed (by him, and by extension by the author).

    Rudeus is not "comparing" the situations but he feels empathy towards her right when he sees her "lifeless eyes" and yet despite her situation she goes out of her way to tell him "I don't want to die", the show is built to show how Rudeus grows as a person surrounded by the environment he is in right now, remember that he was suicidal a few episodes ago because a little misfortune that happened, yet here is a girl who clearly went through hell and back saying such powerful words to a man who gave up on life once and and almost did it again multiple times.
    Or the part where he's smiling and having fun conversations while surrounded by human beings in captivity
    actually good point, but by now he already knew there was slavery in this world for a long time so let's just say he's used to it, we don't see him amazed at every little discrepancy with our world anymore

I really don't get these stupid comments about slavery though, It wasn't a fumble and they just did exactly as it went in the novel except for a few details.

Rudeus monologues that IT WAS a painful sight but I don't get why you're all saying "HE SHOULDVE KNOWN BETTER" he could have just left her there and she probably would have died, so he basically saved her from dying, I read this chapter in the novel just to make sure I don't get anything wrong.

Also you're commenting about how he doesn't offer her freedom, when he literally talks about how she literally has 0 hope and that saying "Oh, we can free you and shit". He states that shes like his past-self, and its better explained in the manga why he doesn't say that but it's because it wouldn't really do anything.

How would you have handled this episode considering it's supposedly a "Fumble" of the topic revolving around slavery. Also his entire character does not revolve around "FREEDOM" as you're making it out to be, he's not Luffy.

"saving" someone by contributing to the system that put them in peril in the first place is condemning dozens to the same fate; Instead of trying to find someone naturally they just went to a fucking slave market first thing lmfao
"Because it wouldn't do anything" is such a cop off. It's not about whether she'd choose the option of freedom or not, but about that being a way out that'd better reflect Rudeus as a character than him literally just buying a slave like it's nothing and not even touching on the fact that he literally has complete control over her for however long he wills it
Me saying Rudeus wouldn't have done something like that without a second thought doesn't mean he's "all about freedom" or whatever strawman you tried making there, but that given his experiences and life both in this and the past world he's someone that would've known better at this point
Also, to touch on your other incredibly out of touch reply to this post, something being in many things doesn't justify it being on one more; a precedent doesn't justify its continuation by itself, let alone when it's about such a shallowly explored subject especially in isekai

  I'll address all your points.
  How could they have possible fumbled the topic, and yes ADAPTING THE NOVEL does have something to do with it as thats where the "Fumble" comes from blame the novel not the people adapting it, in fact the slave was stripped naked in the novel. It shouldn't be that hard to understand.
  How is Rudeus contributing to slavery dawg no offense but what you said is kind of dumb, him buying her is not contributing to the cause I mean maybe it's funding it but hes not playing a major part in her being sold off, also she was sold off willingly along with her parents and that's how most people become slaves, so him buying her is not contributing to it at all. The reason shes a slave is because she couldn't pay off a debt. (This is all explained in the manga)
  Buying a slave and freeing her from captivity was CHEAPER and probably easier than willingly finding somebody to help. Besides nobody is doing that shit for free.
  Why the hell does he need to reflect on the fact he can do whatever he wants to her for as long as he wills, you're making it 10x weirder and creepier than it has to be LMFAO. If he touched and reflected on that fact it'd look way worse than it seems in your head. "Oh, now that I think about it I can basically do whatever the hell I want to her without consequence."
  The reason he doesn't have to reflect on it is because it's not that big of a deal to begin with, also now that I'm reading further the entire interaction between him and the slave was to reflect on how he felt in his past life through the eyes of Juliette.
  You're acting like him buying a slave is an actual gamechanger, "He should have known better". He's buying a slave. Use that term for when he accidentally missgendered Sylphie and forcefully pantsed her, that's something he should have known better than to do LOL.
  I'm diluting it down to people being sensitive because that'ss exactly what it is, a bunch of people crying over the fact that the topic wasn't addressed the way they wanted it too, or that heres some examples, "They really fumbled the topic of slavery with how this episode was yare yare..."
  Yeah he did have a choice on whether or not to go, and the reason he chose to go was solely so that he could help Zanoba with sculpting, Could he have told her she would be free? Yeah he could have, but there really wouldn't have been a point to that like I said in my previous statement.
  Also I never stated that Slavery being in many things justifies it, but there is no need for it to justify anything in the first place, it's a natural revolving theme in the settings of these isekai, theres no need for them to spend an entire chapter on slavery, considering how you're already bashing at them for something as small as this. Even if it was handled properly it wouldn't stop people like you from complaining about it or flowing to something else.
  One last thing, Rudeus isn't even the slave owner, the slave was bought for Zanoba, and I don't understand why you keep referring to him and the girl as slave owner and slave when you're mad that shes supposedly still a slave and not a free woman (which she basically is now).
  So yes after all this, it literally is just people complaining over the smallest topics, because this paragraph may not have needed to be typed if people didn't care as much as they seemingly do over the topic of slavery.
