This is going to be a crazy experience (and really bizzare)

HYPE HYPE HYPE
Jodio's stand is sick AF I'm hype to see more of its power
This chapter and Jodio's character reminds me of 80s mafia films like goodfellas. Looking forward to chapter 2
Yeah it’s definitely JoJo’s

so real
It was pretty interesting so far, despite mainly being set-up and character introduction. Looks like this really might be the SBR version of Part 5 like people thought it would be with its criminal underworld focus. Dragona's stand was neat and what little we saw of November Rain was cool, even if it doesn't look capable of the standard "Ora-Ora". Looking forward to the next chapter and seeing how things go from here.
Man, that was cool! I love Jodio already, his design is pretty and his personality is awful in a way that I like for a character. I'm curious to see what is his ability. The rest of the cast is interesting as well. I'm not sure if Dragona is a trans woman or just a guy who enjoys looking like a woman... maybe a non-binary person? Who knows. Either way, I liked them too! This was a great start.
why do you call Dragona a them when he is a man? It states multiple times in the chapter he is a man and people use "he" to refer to him
Because in Japanese pronouns are not really gendered so using "he/him" could very well just have been a choice of the translator. The only thing that indicates that Dragona is a man is Jodio using "bro" instead of "sis" to call them. But then again, I've read a manga with a canon trans female character where her little brother still called her "bro" even though she had transitioned. Dragona is clearly a character with ambiguous gender so I will wait and see.
I loved this chapter. Showed so much promise. I really enjoy that Araki is playing around with school / crime/ heist elements, and having Joestar siblings is also awesome. I'm curious whether the japanese person who's house they're planning to rob is a Higashikata, or someone with a connection to the main cast of Part 8.
I'm also interested to see how Araki's gonna intergrate prevoius story concepts such as the spin, rock humans, and the Rokaka fruit into the series . All in all, perhaps the best first chapter of Jojo we've got up until now
probably he's just gonna forget these concepts like he does all the time lol
araki very rarely actually forgets. The vast majority of times I see someone claim araki forgot, it's either something he did explain and they literally blacked it from their minds, or they misinterpreted the first time the thing was shown.
Don't ask me about the tiny horses in SBR ch1 i don't know what was up with those either.
Really great first chapter! Looking forward to seeing all their stand abilities fully explained.
Also I absolutely love Jodio's design + the main cast seem to have great desings as well.
The first chapter goes HARD!!!
peak.
truly bizarre
Insane potential, specially since my favourite part is Golden Wind.
I love how this will probably follow a pattern similar to previous works from the new jojoverse, steel ball run being a new take on the journey from crusaders, jojolion being a new take on the slice of life in a cozy, yet mysterious and bizarre town from diamonds, and finally jojolands being a new story following some gang members as in golden wind. The hype is real, the first chapter felt like a start to a really dope and bizarre and weird and gory and absurd jojo story.
tl;dr golden wind but good
already see the parallels to part 5, araki is cooking yet again

Araki went with a more nonhumanoid design for this one I like it and I already like its ability.
The design reminds me of Fun, Fun, Fun.
the character designs and personalities are weird and bad and the integrated modern dialogue is so cringe
ratio
you are like the waterboy meanwhile we are like this or sometimes more like this.
Idk how to feel about Jodio's stand, but Paco and Dragona's look interesting.
Ah yes truly the otherworldy giorno instead of stopping drug selling to minors now he sells them
that and that the police officer confirms that he is man
In the chapter it says he’s a guy that prefers dressing in women’s clothing and had breast implants. There’s not much else to “wait and see.” It’s all been explained
yeah it quite literally says this so theres no androgyny there
The definition of "androgyny" is someone we can't tell the gender on the first look or that has traits of both genders. There is definitely androgyny there.
Regardless, there are many things to take in consideration here: gender identities can be complex; the way cultures deal with gender is different, and I assure you the way Japanese culture deals with it is different than how westernes deal with it (for example, they have the concept of "X-Gender", which is close to "non-binary" in the west, but not exactly the same); Araki's knowledge of trans identities also counts. Araki used to write women badly, he got better though. Maybe Dragona is his first try to write a canon trans character.
I will wait and see.
It was too nice from you to explain this to people who clearly don't want to understand... Anyway, I hope Araki doesn't mess Dragona up, it's easy to write transfem/nonbinary character badly imho.
The POV is also something to think about, Jodio is the one giving these descriptions about his sibling and he is a 15 year old boy.
He didn't forget the spin in Part 8
