Overall it was a pretty good finale, fights didnt feel clunky and the last bit of hayakawa family was fun to watch.
Pretty good adaptation (especially nowadays) although elevating the source material is a different thing.
Different mediums but prefer the manga as Fujimoto's artstyle and paneling had some unique "Punch" to it.

Its kinda funny how Mappa even with their 100% investment into this series dealt with production issue till the end coz of their poor management of other projects they are handling but i hope that for next season they are well sort out.
although there were CGI this episode it blended in neatly with the 2d cuts, great improvement from the 1st episode. Tbh the one thing I'm disappointed by is the OST and insert track (as standalone its good) but the usage of it in episodes didn't leave much impact except for the one when Aki started to remember his talks with Himeno this episode (Its great).

The scene where Aki goes up to kill the ghost was so long and they kept showing Sawatari's confused face that even i was like "bitch what's stopping you from using the snake". So hope they improve on how a viewer consumes an episode rather than trying to convey every emotion of the character inside the medium.
When reading the manga, i expected a more wild style (Maybe that of Trigger) but i like this as well.
Also eve ed didn't really hit, ED 7 might be my favorite of the series.

This was a genuinely interesting series to watch (alongside reading the manga) and review as well. Considering the sheer magnitude of what MAPPA was taking on, perhaps it was always fated to be less than it could have been. But even with that said, I did enjoy myself :)

They...literally had almost every big name in the industry working on this project. How the hell would the studio make a difference?
Not to mention that most of the "good creators" we associate with Shaft really don't work there anymore. Besides, the art style for Monogatari and PMMM would NOT fit Chainsaw Man at all.

I do feel like this needed some of the "snappiness" found in some Shaft shows though, or something akin to some Imaishi shows.
I can understand the thought - for me at least, this would have been at its most perfect in the format of the old OVAs from the 80s and 90s. What I mean by that is projects unconstrained with television deadlines, lots of time to make their animations, etc. Things like the original Arslan Senki or what Riding Bean was supposed to be before that OVA project got nixed.
The style does feel like an evolution for some of those old OVAs for sure and I'd love to see some works encompassing this style with that nature. But for this work in particular, this style made the rough edges stand out more than they probably should.

I guess I overall enjoyed this anime. Though this reeeally feels like it ended before it actually had time to get started properly. If this takes several years to get a second season, I can easily see myself just completely losing interest by the time it's out.

Idk if overrated, but overhyped for sure. I sort of agree with the 8.5 although since it was such a nice breath of fresh air for me I gave it a 9, probably gonna check out the manga as well
Same idk about overrated but its just that I expected more from the producers. It is not bad, it is actually an amazing anime. Its almost perfect in terms of production but it definitely didn't reach my expectations from them and the way it was advertised by the fans.
Man, I feel like the show ended too soon, right as I was just starting to get really invested. The world itself is getting interesting with the dichotomy between humans, hunters and devils and I'm growing more attached to the characters and the intrigue among them. I hope we at least get an ova to dull the pain of the wait for if/when this gets a season 2.
yeah i've heard a lot from manga viewers (somehow without getting spoiled) that this show is only gonna get better from here on out, and i genuinely am looking forward to what's coming next. this kinda feels like if Demon Slayer stopped Season 1 after the fight versus the drum demon to give a hypothetical. good start but with potential for a lot more that i'm eager to see

really really really really really really good. Crazy visuals, great score changed up the mood of the manga in a great manner to fit the anime format, serious, great looking and fun. The CG and animation had two or three slips but the incredible quality of every scene's lightning coloring and the cinematic directing made up for it. Very very satisfied.

This episode made me realize the issue with every single episode so far in this season except the ones from Nakayama or Yoshihara I had, but couldn't quite put into words or grasp yet - Nakayama understood the assignment, and solidified the tone for the adaptation. But the other directors and storyboarders kinda failed to follow suit, making this adaption a bit of a melting pot where the tone just doesn't hit right. Episode 12 finally feels like, we're back home.
It's not something easy to put into words, but what I quite enjoyed with episode 1 were the more cinematic storyboards, the visual storytelling and the "dry" delivery. The boards felt natural and seamless, how the situation is portrayed here with letting the characters naturally act is actually really hilarious, it was so easy to get immersed into.
Chainsaw Man vs Katana Man was also fun, with very dynamic and tense storyboards. The CG definitely had rough moments and feels a little clunky, but the way it was boarded made the fight exciting nonetheless, and the right use of the soundtrack helped with that too.
Also absolutely hilarious. Love the way this was boarded too.
I really like how the season wrapped up in this final episode, not only resolving the conflict but also dealing with Aki's feelings about Himeno's death. Only complaint I would have, this episode felt so short. Like, this actually felt super short, maybe because I was so immersed.

Eve's ED was pretty cool. Liked how the visuals were incorporated this time, showing more of their every day life.
I also suspected that this season might end with the door, although the mystery of it remains. But it established itself as an important motive. Also a small taste for the next season at the end with a new character, I think this is Reze? I haven't read the manga, I only saw a picture of her and we saw black hair.
