I mean, they did Akis backstory really well. but i feel like they brushed past the gun devil appearance really fucking quickly. they just gave it like 2 lines of dialogue and moved on

Yeah I agree. They also skipped the death counts of each country and the time passed for them when the gun devil appeared. It somewhat is a major part considering the fact the devil can basically move so fast and shoot people from across all places

  Yeah, they way they had it was just like, "gun devil killed a million people lol"
  And in the manga it was way more surreal, showing the stats of how many he killed in each place and how long it took. It hit so much harder and really sold you on how powerful the gun devil is.
  Side note: Statistics devil would go crazy

Pretty good episode with explanation of gun devil and its event but in some way this episode felt a bit weak as well.

While the episodes themselves are great the eds are on a different level, tbh the ED's capture the vibes from Fujimoto's manga so well. (The horse cut reminded me of old town road all of the sudden)

As a manga reader I was excited to see how they'd show the Gun Devil's killing. The one page in the manga which had the stats of deaths in individual countries and the time taken felt so strong. Sad they didn't showed it but overall the episode was good.
Denji achieved his dreams twice (with different girls)

I can't stand up to Makima's VA. She's doing a phenomenal job; the smoothest, calmest and hypnotic voice i've heard so far. This's brilliant and simultaneously horrified me cause her character hides something important and manipulating in her way Denji. The scene with Makima was like fornicate, and the further is building up for an upcoming event to arrive and shine. Looking forward to the next week to come.

I should get used to it, but I'm not. The details in the fabrics with the shadows and the designs are just absurd, especially with this degree of perspective play and character acting

But yeah, Chainsaw Man continues strong in the breasts and femdom department, a small woof especially with Makima being THIS gorgeous is just simply unavoidable

But, we also got some interesting information. Makima has Denji even more in her palm but she wants him to deal with the Gun Devil for her. I particularly like how Aki's backstory tied in with this plot development

it feels conclusive and makes the Gun Devil significant on a global scale (a strong demon which no one can locate but is an obvious threat) but also very personally for not only Denji as a goal but Aki as a revenge target.
And now it's time to collect finger-, oh I mean bullets, of course. And our main squad got bigger. Kobeni still is a bit of a mystery card, as we haven't seen much but well, Himeno is awesome.

It's also great how all the time spent on the characters like Denji and Power on previous episodes really pays off, as their dynamics and the jokes just work so much better because the characters inherently are interesting and likeable

more characters to the mix just promises even more fun, and while it ends up in a slower pacing and less action, I think it's worth it. At least for me.

Also, dumb Denji doesn't get old. Yet.

We also got some action towards the end, and while it was nothing to crazy it was really good as always and Himeno's power is cool. There is a lot of promise with the powers in this show (and also the overall concept of demons)

I have kinda a thing for mysterious warped environment too, so that really hits the right itch. Reminds me of Kara no Kyoukai

Lastly the ending - I think you can write an entire essay about it on your own, I think I will look at the endings more closely once I have finished this show, as I think there is also foreshadowing to be found here, but it's damn good. It's bizarre, weird, and really fits the vibe of the show. It also gives me hope for the arc we started with this episode

The director Hiramatsu Shuu doesn't seem to have directed much before but I will definitely keep an eye on him because this ed really is a constant eye-catcher
