Tbh I never thought people will complain about a fucking pie scene until I saw discussions. When I read the manga, I thought it was cute and provided a sense of relief amidst chaos which has been previously done in many stories. I really don't understand because I never followed any discussions until the manga ended.
Honestly it felt pretty out of place to me. The world is getting fucked meanwhile we're getting MCU tier humor. I liked the brushing the titans teeth shit cause it was so stupid it was good but the pie scene was overkill to me tbh.
I wish that 126 focused more on the alliance getting formed and Falco grieving over his brother's death and less haha comic relief time.
All the scenes with Jean, Mikasa and Hanji were great tho, their tone was great and I honestly wish the whole chapter was like those scenes

One single panel of Falco grieving over his brother who was with him till the very end and nothing for his brother figure(Porco) who gave his life away for him who he had a tight bond with
Nothing for Falco being scared shitless at the thought that the rumbling has started and everyone and everything he loves beyond the sea will definitely die
The scene where Eren, Mikasa grieve over Hannes was so powerful, both in the anime and manga and we didn't get anything from Falco who was in a similar situation
MCU tier humor with Annie eating the pie. I expected something far more serious from that scene. Also the reunion and pacing were just ass in general and the tone was inconsistent and all over the place. Sometimes it's trying to be serious and mature, sometimes emotional but also comedic?
Just missed opportunities overall. Would've preferred if Falco actually had authority in the chapter. 6/10 for the manga. 7/10 for the anime
That pie scene was so cringe
This is where the story starts becoming less interesting for me until chapter 131, but after that's adapted, the story just hits rock bottom. I think most people can agree with me when I say that the episodes that have Eren as the main focus are the best ones, and the ones that don't feature him at all are just ok at best, because these characters besides Jean are so uninteresting.

Are you really comparing a fanfic with a piece of art which was born from imagination? First of all, fanfics are comparatively easy to write as fans already have the outline of the story and characters's depth and design, well why not just try to write a one-shot by yourself, you might learn the struggles of writing a fiction, instead of just trashtalking about other's hardwork

Don't really get why people hate this chapter. Yeah it isn't peak AoT but it's just another episode, not terrible at all.
I find it funny that people are focusing on the 2 minute pie scene for some reason. Why didn't the same thing happen for the potato jokes earlier on? It's the same thing.
The infamous 5 second "cringevengers" bit is also overly used as evidence for this part being bad, but they address it in one of the upcoming chapters in a way. Yeah I agree it isn't great, but it's not like we just went from 10/10 to 1/10.
As well as that, people say that this whole segment before 131 is bad, but imo the next battle is great, especially towards the end.

I don’t like the pie scene for the same reasons I don’t like the potato scenes, but it doesn’t ruin AoT and if people genuinely think that it ruins the episode I cannot comprehend that really.
I do wish the execution of Annie’s reappearance was done better though. It was a bit of a let-down after being the thing we were waiting for for 3 seasons.

Wow, the Annie pie scene and Marley & Eldians joining forces...I guess I get why the manga readers say the writing quality takes a nosedive in the last arc. The pie scene seemed especially forced. Things are so uninteresting without Eren, I couldn't give a damn about Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Floch, or anyone from Marley. Also what the hell was up with the Mikasa and Louise scene? What the hell, she's dying, at least show some sympathy!!

Yeah, I can understand. She always struck me as one one of the most thinly-characterized from the show, so I was never a fan, especially owing to her being...devoid of any personality. She's the perfect example on what not to do in fiction if you want your female characters to pass the Bechdel test. Honestly not that happy with how Isayama writes female characters at all. Historia was always my favourite character from the show, but she just fades into background noise by the end.
Indeed, Historia is also one of my favourite characters in the show, only behind Erwin and maybe Grisha. I was so disappointed when there was absolutely no action for her after the time skip... I also like Gabi, she gets a lot of shit, but she is actually a really well-written character.

You're right, how dare people criticize something they didn't like. The pie scene is an absolute masterpiece 10/10 breathtaking oscar worthy hilarious moment. Everything in this season is perfect, there's nothing wrong with it at all.

Neither bad nor good. I do think people are overexaggerating it a lot, but I can start to see how it would lead to people hating the ending of the manga. For anyone wondering I haven't read it yet.
The thing is this is the last time any of the stuff people are complaining about happens so that’s not why people don’t like the ending.

People dislike this episode because they just point at the pie scene and avengers save the world scene and say it makes it bad. Yeah they feel out of place, but the rest was pretty good.

I don't mind the "brushing teeth" excuse. Connie has never been a smart character, so coming up with an excuse like that is totally in line with his character.
I didn't like the pie scene, but seeing people complain about it reminded me of the shenanigans that happened in season 1, like Sasha eating a potato in the training camp. Attack on Titan humour has always had that type of vibe to me. It's what would make me reluctant to recommend it to people who don't watch anime, I think there's some bizarre stuff which we've forgotten through rose-tinted glasses.
Unless they flashback to how all the factions got together, it's definitely pretty weak writing. I can excuse one chance encounter. There are enough chance encounters in history for something like Annie to meet Armin & co in a marketplace to be possible. I guess it would've been nice if we had more of an idea of geography, or even a throwaway line of dialogue saying that's where food is being rationed out in that entire city, so everyone in that city looking for food would funnel through there. Considering that essentially half of the Eldian cities are cut off by a big line of titans walking through the middle, so the entire group (luckily) were stranded on the same side it does also make the chances of meeting up more likely.
I assume Mikasa and Jean were in league when they shared that look when Floch was giving his speech. I also guess on the way back to the city, Armin & co ran into Hange's group, which once again I think people would swallow better if we had a better sense of geography and saw them passing one another as inevitable, not as something forced to make the plot happen.
I'm also assuming Armin was the one to meet up with Mikasa and Jean, and Jean thought of the escape plan (as the episode literally said it was his plan), and I would have liked to have seen some resolution between Mikasa and Armin, since they literally had an argument when they last saw one another. So unless Armin and Mikasa make up next episode, as maybe they hadn't seen each other until the escape, I think that whole argument would've been a bit pointless.
I was honestly expecting Armin and Mikasa to be divided for the rest of the season, to really show the original trio are no more; maybe coming together once more at the very end. I was also expecting Floch to be like the big boss of Eldia they had to defeat before they set their eyes on Eren, although Floch may catch up with them before they get off the island.
Well, here we go...

This episode definitely felt like a "getting the gang back together" episode. All the most important characters finally get on the same page and unite with common purpose. Was it rushed? Maybe a little; perhaps it would've been a good idea to stretch this part into two episodes just to give some time to breathe. But that's a minor complaint in a season that's otherwise been firing on all cylinders. Can't wait to see where things go from here!
I actually liked the pie scene 110% and the avengers meme was funny; were in the eye of the storm so it's calm and a well needed break.
