It's alright ig. I would've enjoyed it more if it had a better supporting cast though. Apart from Jin-Woo, all other characters are lame and irrelevant. Storyline is alright too, not much variety in the different arcs and kinda let me down here.
Loved the art, fight sequences and pure badassery though!!

I just recently started Solo Leveling, and loved it. Already caught up to it, and want more! Everything from the plot to the pacing to the illustration is perfect in my opinion. The MC is more badass than the villains lol.
What did you guys think? What was your favourite part about it? (Also any recommendations for manga similar to it?)
My favourite part about Solo Leveling is the first 20 chapters. Everything after that is repetitive and bad.
Really? I found it good thoughout, as he gained new abilities, and the plot grew more and more while new characters were also introduced. But glad to know you liked the first 20 chapters :)
It's good that you liked it, but I don't think the plot grew. In fact, in search of the plot, I also read the web novel of Solo Leveling, but I was even more disappointed. All the arcs look the same as the one before. The only difference is how strong Sung Jin-Woo gets each arc.
Ohh ok. I guess different views is what makes us all different ;) Maybe you look for different aspects in plots compared to mine ^^

Igris! LOL He's my favorite of the shadows.
Him aside I like the characters, story, and of the course the art. The battle scenes are especially flashy and are made even more so as Jin-Woo gets more and more skills and Shadows.
I was so excited to learn that it's being brought over in physical form. I went out the same day that I learned about it to buy the first volume. <3

I was pretty excited to find it. I think volume two comes out this month. I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for it. ^_^
The art is the best thing imo. The plot is extremely good though the beginning part, when we have no idea whether he'll die or not creates a sort of tension that goes down as the story progresses. The characters are all likable, though the problem is that most of the side characters only appear in 1 arc and then they're never to be seen again.
Recommendation: The beginning after the end. Similar protagonist in the way that they want to get stronger to protect their loved ones, great and detailed art, and the story is even better than sol leveling imo.
Yup, the art is just another level. Yeah, the tension decreases, but then more powerful beings appear, so it's not completely lost, and it comes back from time to time. I think they purposefully decrease it at times, so as to give us a breather lol.

I've only read checks list 64 chapters of Solo Leveling so by no means can I talk about the whole manhwa, but I think the reason why I'm a bit disappointed by it is that it's good and could do so much, yet doesn't. It feels like the best OP protagonist story out there, and while it has a lot of tired tropes in it, I do think it makes the best usage of it. But... I feel bored by the story sometimes. Scratch that, a lot of the times.
The action looks amazing and I'm gonna keep reading because of the art, but I don't feel the weight of it, if that makes sense. I feel like I'm looking at really good art, not that I'm looking at a manhwa with a story. I don't feel like I'm looking at a character sometimes, at someone who started from the bottom and has kept going and going, who continues to grow. I feel like I'm just looking at another OP dude beat shit up, devoid of any meaning, and that stopped being entertaining for me pretty quickly. It's good, and again I do think it's the best in its subgenre, but it's far from perfect. I guess if we define "perfect" to mean the best of it's niche, then yeah it's perfect. But is it the best manhwa I've ever read? No, not really.
If you enjoyed Solo Leveling I think you'll really like Omniscient Reader. It's take on an OP protagonist is really interesting imo, with a lot of strategy but also a lot of fun action. It's also free on the Webtoons app.
Oh, alright. I get your viewpont, but for some reason I still felt the plot was pretty solid (the origin of his powers, the new characters, new ablities, the past etc seemed cool to me)
