100KIMI NO NA WA REVIEW
![]()
~~~I have never been keen for anime movies, apart from the classic Ghibli movies! In all the series I've watched, I will almost certainly skip the movie if it has one. However, Kimi No Na Wa somehow stuck out to me. Something about the animation style of the trailers and the soundtrack simply stuck. Then, one night, I finally sat down and watched it!
I like to say that I was simply not prepared for it. I wasn't prepared for a movie with such incredible animation, such absolutely beautiful music (dear god the music), and such an interesting and absolutely gut-wrenchingly mesmerizing story. I like to also say I expected something less, that I didn't have high expectations at all for it! However, no matter what I say, the movie still floored me. I found myself immediately grabbed by the soft colors of the comets, the wonderful OP, and every other little nuance of the movie. I sat there absolutely transfixed, just taking in as much as I could; everything about it just screamed at me.
After the movie ended, I could feel tears dripping down my cheeks. I sat there motionless for a very long time after the movie, simply overcome with copious emotions. It's still hard for me to put into words exactly what this movie made me feel; but it changed me. It made me feel so incredible, so ethereal! The movie made me appreciate so many little things that I had taken for granted in those past few months of my life. It showed me so clearly how these beautiful things we get to see every day, most of which we don't even slow down to see and take in, are so incredibly temporary. And thus so, though we may one day forget these memories, we should make them as often as we can. It made me realize that though I did not have something, I still had so much else. And I should cherish that with all I am. Furthermore, it made me appreciate connections with real people that we I so often took for granted; the beauty of genuine happiness on a persons face, their pride in an accomplishment, it's all so incredible.
It's all so beautiful. And this movie helped me see that.
The next morning, I walked out of my house into a world that felt so wonderfully different. The pinkness of the sky, the vivid colors of the summer: they all just took my breath away. I met up with a friend of mine and immediately gave her the a tight hug, and seeing her smile was just so perfect. The monotonous aspect of my life completely vanished; I could instead see a colorful and cheerful aspect of my life. I could have never imagined that a movie could change my life to this extent. I am truly grateful
From that day on, I have slowed down. I take in the way people smile when they talk, and the beautiful way the world around us moves.
Because as Your Name taught me, it is temporary.
And oh so lovely.~~~
