The greatest and my personal favorite manga OAT. Blue Box is a fictitious masterpiece which transcends the realm of entertainment and is a life changing experience. I have so much gratitude towards this manga and without a doubt I can confidently say that it has had one of the biggest impacts on my life. This manga is the ideal of perfection and does not have a single flaw.
Breaking down the manga, the story is so perfect and never had any signs of flaws. The pacing the events the slow burning romance and gradual cultivation of the relationships in the manga is extraordinary. This manga doesn't just explore conventional romance and sports but delves into the complexities of love, friendship, personal doubt and self improvement all whilst maintaining a light hearted and soul healing story. The main dynamic of the piece between Taiki and Chinatsu is so beautiful and is something I wish I could have in my life. All the heartwarming moments were so vibrant and bubbly and had me smiling and giggling like a 5 year old girl which I could not have enjoyed any more. The blushing the physical touch the cutesy moments were such a pleasure to watch but more than this the pureness of their love and how, unlike other romance's where love may be sparked by individual events, proximity or familiarity, you really get to see all the shifts in their relationship and what drew them to one another and the way they display this is proof of that. They become a pillar of support and hope in one another's lives and fulfill each other so perfectly. Moments like the aquarium date which is such a key milestone in their relationship is what really separates this manga from others and the way they come back to it towards the end of the series is such beautiful storytelling. Other moments like the school cultural festival or the theme park are some of my favorite chapters and provide me with such a pure sense of happiness that I can't help but dream of finding someone to share moments like that with. But what I love more than anything else about their relationship is the motivation they feel as a result of the other and how they always know that the other is working their hardest to chase their dreams and that motivation is what pushes them throughout the whole series to improve themself and become as great as possible. That is where the sport aspect ties in and it is truly magnificent. The way they intertwine sport into the piece is so good cause you get to see more development in the characters and see them as more than just a couple but as genuine people who are putting in their all to achieve their dreams all this whilst not taking anything away from the romance.
The story is slow paced but is exactly what you want so you can understand the development more closely and immerse yourself into the life of the characters. Past the main dynamic the side romances are also so good and just add even more to the overall piece. I loved the love triangle in particularI loved watching the innocence of Hina's heart and her emotions were so pure that it had me wishing the best for her. Which is why it broke my heart watching her get rejected and had me balling for days not because I was disappointed or mad at Taiki but because seeing Hina in that sort of pain was so much that I couldn't hold it in. After that I realized that sometimes love is simply unrequited and that it doesn't matter how pure or strong your emotions are, love is about reciprocation and mutuality. So in Hina's case, as sad as I was you have to accept it and move on which is what she was able to do which is explored by Miura so well in that he doesn't just make Hina's emotions disappear after she got rejected but shows her confusion, her sadness and her perseverance to eventually accept the truth and move on. All this is so monumental to me as it is so realistic and comparable to real life. That's why I don't believe in team Hina and Team Chinatsu because while I do think Chinatsu and Taiki should be together and that they are a perfect couple, It was simply how things were meant to be and Hina will find someone for her especially considering how loveable she is. Personally I like Hina over Chinatsu but for Taiki, Chinatsu is a better fit. Furthermore the other side couples like Haryu and Karen or Kyo and Ayame is another part of the series which makes it even better.
To top all of that blue box doesn't just centralize on romantic relationships but also explores friendships like Taiki and Kyo who have been friends since a young age and have always shown support and an unselfish desire to help each other. Additionally Taiki and Haryu are also such a huge friendship between a junior and his senior and Haryu has done so much for Taiki to help him grow by giving him a figure to admire, chase after and compete against which embodies what friends should do. If only I grew up in Japan and could have this sort of respect and admiration of a senpai. And even the rivalry between Taiki and Yusa who plays such a pivotal role in Taiki's development and is often overlooked. All these relationships are explored to such a depth that a lot is often disregarded but when you take time to think you really understand just how important relationships are and what makes this series so beautiful.
Overall Blue box is a phenomenal masterpiece which changed my life and the way I perceive things, providing me not only with motivation to try my hardest and improve myself but also to develop strength in relationships with those around me. This manga has it all with such a perfect MC, side cast, pacing, story, art style and the enjoyment of reading is something else. It has taught me so much and I am so grateful for that. So I would like express my thanks to the author, the characters, the manga sites and the publishers for allowing me to read this and I only hope to be able to live in the way I hope and apply the numerous lessons I've learnt after reading this.
