Loved from start to finish!!! <3
100I came across this show because of en edit I saw of Ed and Winry on TikTok. I watched for those two and stayed for everything else. From start to finish this show has not caused me an ounce of boredom. I truly loved watching every single episode. I feel that every character had a role and every character played it well. Everything was spot on, the comedic timing, knowing when things got serious, and the bonds that every character had with each other. If I ever had the chance to watch a show for the first time ever I would pick fmab with NO hesitation. I was so hooked, invested, intrigued. Every time I had to end the show for the day I wanted more. I’m usually very picky with shows. Most of the time I read because I hate spending hours and hours watching one show, but this was different. I never got bored of it. This is just my experience on the show and things I enjoyed sooo don’t expect anything too good this is just for my enjoyment
SPOILERS!!!
The Elric Brothers
Edward and Alphonse are so adorable. I love their dynamic, they care for each other so deeply. I really love their brotherly bond. Alphonse is so soft spoken. You can tell by the way he speaks that he’s a softer guy rather than Edward who appears to be a little more edgy like most teenagers are. When I first started watching he was so short, but half way past the show I had noticed Ed grew taller than Winry. I couldn’t believe that he grew that much within a year it felt so fast, but it reflects reality well. We age right before the eyes of others and before we can realize it we’ve changed. I like that the brothers hold themselves accountable for what happened to them. They knew what they were getting to so the result of what happened is ultimately their fault. I really like that they didn’t try to blame it on anything else as a way to cope with what happened to them. I also really agree with this one quote from the show “In order for something to be obtained, something of equal value must be lost.” I feel like we give and take so much this resembles our society so well.
Every other character in the show because I’m too lazy to make this review look pretty
These are some notes/thoughts I had written down while watching this show sooo I’m just gonna add onto whatever I wrote down and more.
I noticed that in the beginning of the show Hohenheim was portrayed as if he had turned his backs on the boys. In reality his reason for leaving was because he wanted to stay with Trisha and the boys, but because he never said nor did much when the boys were little they had perceived it as something different. It shows how perception is so important because anyone could view/remember a situation differently.
I now want to get into Scar. I feel that the complexity of his character is so well developed. He had every right to be angry, to want avenge his fallen country, but that does not condone the fact that in return for his vengeance he is killing others which isn’t contributing to anything. It only continues the cycle of bloodshed. Throughout the show we can see Scars development, how he rethinks the actions that have taken place and what that means.
That then makes me remember Hughes. He was so funny to me I really wish he didn’t get killed off. I felt so sad for his wife and kid he loved them so much. Not to mention he got killed only a few days after Elysia had turned three :(
Just as how scar was complex I feel the same way about Greed. Greed is not necessarily good nor is he bad. Greed can be many things and that was so perfectly executed. I genuinely wanted him to stay. I really loved his character imo he’s the best homunculi.
The second half of the show was the funniest to me. Yoki was so unexpected I thought he was just an extra or a side character that would’ve disappeared once the episode ended, but I am so glad he’s not. My favorite part about him is how he displays his dramatics. He tickles me soo bad, the chimeras as well. I really like the chimeras you can tell that even though they were given orders and had their bodies configured you can still see their human side. It’s so funny when they gang up on Ed.
I noticed that Envy’s original form looked like a little fetus. When he curls up into himself he looks like one. I also noticed that pride is the same too. Now I could go on and on about every character in this show, but I’ll stop here
My top 5 characters
- The Elric brothers
- Hohenheim
- Scar

I’m probably gonna watch fma03 next. I’ve heard that fma03 is darker and there are some differences in the characters, anyway I’m sure I’ll enjoy it since I enjoyed this one so much.
