Yes, Nice Prison sucks.
Nice Prison has to be one of the worst manga to be released in Jump. I have no idea how Masaru Saito looked at this manga and approved it because it’s the equivalent of this meme.

What is Nice Prison about?
It's about a guy who was born and raised in prison, Horo Mitsuboshi, who wants to bring peace and niceness to the prison.

The story is nonsense even for gag manga standards. It’s just random and inconsistent. Like stuff randomly happens like the main character Horo can just turn Super Saiyan out of nowhere.

And let’s not get into the comedy. This manga wants to go for a Uncle Grandpa and Bobobo type comedy but it fails in that, it’s just random just for the sake of being random. Like even in a show like Family Guy where it’s cutaways are just random without any contribution to the plot, at least there is a punchline. This manga doesn’t even have that. It’s “lol this thing happened”

What about the characters? They’re just there. Granted that this manga got axed but even some axed manga can have some great characters. Like take a look at Green Green Greens. The problem with how Nice Prison’s characters isn’t that they're unlikeable or anything, it's just that they show up and do something that’s it. Like there’s not a single thing that really makes us get to know about these characters.
Like even in gag series like Gintama, Sket Dance, Witch Watch, Saiki K, Kochikame, Dr Slump, Chojo, Samon the Summoner, and even Roboco. The cast are treated as if they’re regular human beings. With Nice Prison the cast are just there just for the sake of being there.

I’m not that type of person to compare a comedy show meant for children to an action or more serious show meant for children, because it’s mostly because most of these types of people want to feel valid for going apeshit over a SpongeBob or Teen Titans Go! Episode. But come one even for Gag manga standards this manga is pretty juvenile. Like I’m not expecting something super dark but a really funny manga, but all I read was just some comedy manga that had no idea what the hell it wanted to be.

Despite these criticisms towards the manga I hope that series mangaka Tatsuya Suganuma learns from his failure of this manga and makes a more successful series in the future.
Like Candy Flurry is one of my least favorite axed mangas I’ve read but the creators managed to make another series in the magazine that I’ve been enjoying which is Shinobi Undercover and it’s pretty clear that the manga is here to stay in Jump.

Overall Nice Prison is one of my least favorite mangas I’ve ever read in my 8 years of reading manga. It’s something I don’t even recommend to people who generally like Gag manga. It’s so bad it barely made it to the U19 club.
Yeah there wasn’t anything good about this manga. It has a poor attempt at a story, characters that just exist, and the comedy is awful. It couldn’t even make a proper ending.
Yeah this manga is pretty much a 1/10. Not even sugarcoating it. This manga makes Shugomaru look like Gintama.

This manga didn’t even reached it’s 69th Chapter.
