Wasted Chef (Studio CLAP) — Production Updates & Japanese Theater Release Predictions?

I recently saw the stunning teaser trailer for the upcoming original sci-fi/gourmet anime movie Wasted Chef, which is being directed by Takayuki Hirao and animated by Studio CLAP (the brilliant team behind Pompo: The Cinéphile!).

The premise about a young chef in a dystopian, ruined world stripped of its sense of taste sounds incredibly unique. The tagline "On this day, 'you' and 'taste' vanished from the world" has me completely hooked.

Since it was previewed at the Annecy Animation Showcase a couple of months ago, an official theatrical release window hasn't been locked down yet. Based on Studio CLAP's usual production cycles, when do you all think we can expect this to drop in Japanese theaters? Do you think we are looking at an early 2027 release, or could it sneak into late 2026?
