I love how gentle it is... how the pacing is exactly right, how everyone is just so kindhearted, how things actually realistically fall into place... I love how Nonna still showed her childishness at the end; this is exactly the kind of comfort I need.
it really is a nice watch but not hollow. i liked the scene of Nonna climbing the tree because it hints at the story being aware of the gender politics happening. my favorite moment though was probably when Jeffrey touches Victoria’s hair and you can tell how she regulates herself to such an extent that her own emotions are distant to her. she recognizes the cue but doesn’t know how she is supposed to react now that she has the autonomy to decide. i like her a lot

Going to a royal party is bad opsec for vicky and something like that wouldn't fit inside my own threat model if I were in her shoes.
I wouldn't describe anything that's happened in this so far as realistic; things "falling into place" only ever happens in particularly boring fairy tales, and that's exactly what this has been so far. Vicky is too perfectly competent, Nonna is too perfectly well mannered, Jeff is too perfectly chivalrous, and everyone else is basically a walking, talking slice of wonderbread. The only character who might have at least as much depth as the average puddle is the antagonist, who will no doubt figure out where "Chloe" went, make an attempt or two to bring her back in covertly, get thwarted by Vicky's perfect spycraft, then make an open political play to get the nobles to send her "home," only for them to flock around her and send him packing, leaving Vicky, Jeff, and Nonna to live happily ever after. If there's no interesting B-plot or anything by the end of the next episode, I'm probably going to be dropping this one.
I mean, considering the things Vicky and Nonna have gone through in their own lives, I think them being too competent and well-mannered respectively makes sense. I do think that Jeff needs to show some more flaws though, as being a little shy is far from cutting it. I don't mind the others being a talking slice of wonderbread since they're not really integral to the plot.
