I guess I am also tired of the "gets recruited to a secret organization that fights monsters" plot and this one doesn't seem to bring anything unique at all.
Enjoying this show alot so far even if it's a bit generic. Ragou is just great. MC is likable. Great music and animation. Could do with less fan service though.

I respect your opinion, as this is a pretty subjective thing, but we're two episodes in man, you don't usually know everything about every character and love them to the moon and back within this short of a time frame. Of course I'm well aware that I'm biased since I read the manga, but even if I try to look back to how I felt early into the read, I find myself already somewhat enjoying the characters to a certain extent.
Jiro is a decent MC and I also really like Rago, especially his dynamic with Jiro is fun to watch; in general I love the "being partners with the source of your power" trope. Jiro's grandpa works as a good mentor figure as well and when it comes to the rest, well they've barely been here for an episode, as they've been introduced towards the end of the first.
Both Shiba and Ichika had no time to shine yet, especially Ichika might come off as incredibly annoying at the start (I'd know, I legit hated her attitude in the beginning), but she gets a lot more bearable and likable as the show goes on. I don't know, I think they call this something something character developement, I don't know, sounds important.
Beyond that, we've only met like less than 30% of the entire cast. [Beware, here follows an entirely personal rant that is not directed towards anyone here in this thread in particular] This is one of the biggest issues of modern anime audiences tbh, zero patience. Going a 2 or 3 episodes in, saying "Meh, next" and going on. I respect not wanting to stick around with a show if it doesn't interest you, but a lot of people then act like they know everything a show has to offer, even though they've just seen a miniscule amount or sometimes nothing at all from the show.
Even though the second episode is just as generic as the first, I have to admit I'm surprisingly enjoying it for some reason. Aside from Rangou, the rest of the cast is pretty bad—especially that red-haired girl. The main character is decent, though. His relationships with animals are actually very wholesome, and it was hilarious watching crows help him escape from the hospital. Recruitment arc starts tho, not excited.
People have a problem with identifying generic = bad and boring. Generic simply means you’ve seen it somewhere before, it doesn't automatically mean it's bad. There are good generic series, and there are bad generic series.

Dude, we've only seen two episodes, and the only characters who got any screen time where something can be said about them were Jirou, Ragou, and Grandpa. Just chill out okay?
Besides, even if it’s only two episodes, I don’t see how anyone could dislike the dynamic between the two of them. Maybe I’m a bit biased because Jirou really reminds me of Ichigo, but his relationship with Ragou is genuinely cool. I love the trope where one body houses two inhabitants who talk to each other, and Ragou perfectly captures how a cat would act if it were a Mononoke. Those two are enough for me to watch it.
I mean we are still at episode two. How are they already annoying to you? I am liking the show so far. I know the plot is a bit generic but it is still enjoyable to me. It got decent production and story has potential even though I heard that the manga is cancelled so no clue how they are gonna treat that if it ever gets a second season.

Nah it is just that I would understand if it was like Asta. Ragou and Jirou keeps fighting but it adds a dynamic between the two.

Three episodes in and I can't find a good character in this show, I may end up dropping this one. This Ichika girl keeps talking about sexism and all but I bet 90% of the animation budget went for her body details, they don't even try to hide it. And finally, what is with this MC that nobody seems to be able to like him? I get the Mononoke hate, but cmon dude didn't do anything.
Yeah I'm keeping an open mind when it comes to Ichika, esp if the way she's depicted in the ED is anything to go by I feel like I can expect better vibes from her as time goes on. I already like Jiro and Rago a lot tho
Yeah, I’m noticing this growing problem among battle shonen fans more and more often. It was the case with Gachiakuta, and it’s happening now with Yomi no Tsugai. Manga artists today have to face a major problem, they cannot afford a slow paced plot to focusing on world building and character relationships.
Fans these days are constantly demanding for non stop action and adrenaline. If an episode lacks a fight scene, it’s dismissed as a "filler" where nothing happened, it’s incredibly frustrating when you’re watching Yomi no Tsugai and the world-building gets more interesting, only for some kid with a TikTok brain to comment that nothing happened. Fans used to be much more patient back then, so manga artists could afford to take more liberties.
What’s particularly funny is that when the series finally ended, the very same fans who had been demanding for non-stop action complained that the ending was rushed, that the characters didn't spend enough time together, and that the world-building was boring. BRO! YOU ASKED FOR THIS XD. How was the author supposed to work on these things when you kept asking for action and complaining whenever nothing was happening? When was he supposed to get it all done? I swear, these people are like those parents who just want their child to study, and then wonder why he's so hopeless at social interactions XD.
