I think it's certainly fast by our expectations, but I think they drove home the point pretty hard how big of a deal in their society it is to be manly. I don't think we have an equivalent attribute here that would immediately command that level of both respect and desire. Even the men did a 180 when they found out how manly he was. They didn't even get jealous until mc went on a co-op hunt.
While we do have "manliness," I wouldn't say it's nearly as intense of a desired quality as theirs. Shoot, if you ask Love and Deepspace players from China, I'd say their definition might look even more different than how a lot of the rest of the world sees it - haha

  It started off REALLY well — an easy anime to watch, with a DECENT production. From what it looks like, it’s going to be a cultivation anime with romance, but a somewhat different kind of romance. We’ll get to that…
  The use of CG didn’t bother me; I thought it felt pretty natural. They mainly used it on the protagonist because of his detailed armor. One funny part was the talk about being a MAN, which, in the context of that village, basically means how much a guy can provide. And that’s where the breaking point might be for some people: the romance.
  The protagonist even questions it and says that where he comes from, what matters is looks and conversation, unlike there. So the romance might be something different, involving the female character falling for him not only for who he is, but also for what he can provide.
  That’s not something people usually romanticize, but it creates a very different and interesting dynamic to follow.

I had a huge smile on my face this entire episode. I love the protagonist. He's simple-minded but he's reliable and gets work done.
As for Alna, I love her design. She's super cute even when she was upset or angry. Even her scowling look is cute. I do have a weakness for darker-skinned anime girls. You don't get them that much and I kind of want to see them more but I also don't mind not seeing them more because when you do see them it's like a treat. I don't want the artist to have to do anything they don't want to of course but still her design is beautiful. She is immediately wife material and I guess I am a little jealous of the guy but it does seem like it's gonna be a nice slow and simple anime. I like that we need more slower ones with this high pace season that we're having.

I forgot that Wakayama was Aruna. I'm so happy, it's looking like such a good adaptation. The manga has some of my favorite gags and facial humor. I'm glad the studio even gave it the right time to breathe

Ive read the manga years ago before it even got licensed. So im quite excited to see them animated. Story is about managing a territory from the ground up

So the King sent Dias to die?
I mean, even traditional exile meant to a place where there was existing civilization.
Based on his personality, Dias was probably too dense to even realize he had pissed off the King or something.
Anyways, unlikely to be the point of the show, and maybe a good way to demonstrate that our MC is really that stupid. Was assigned to homestead. Brought no livestock or tools. Showed up with full plate armour and a war-axe.

its even funnier that when she says "lets get married" the literal next frame is the ending where they have twin daughters, had me laughing and also kinda offset the sudden-ness of the proposal since i guess the show is supposed to start with him being married and light-novel pacing doesnt work with anime

The sudden change is just to move the story forward. As is in the manga too, it's to quickly get everyone together; aside the actual plot reason being "manliness".
About cheat skill, well, being dense and a little bit dumb is his skill. Otherwise as story progress we see some glimpses of how some things work and how it doesn't even matter. XD
Other things to note: just understand that Aruna is young and that Dias is also not that stupid, he has a little bit of common sense, It's just a species thing, the marriage age. She actually complements the MC really well, getting him in his place.
Expect more Meah (the sheep) too. They're very cute. hahaha

On one hand, I don't mind that something in culture is valued so high by the opposite gender. On the other. 35 year old man with a 15 year old girl is a bit much. Even if he says he'll wait until she is 18. I guess in medieval societies marrying off teenage girls and large age gaps weren't that uncommon, but it's still a bold choice from the writer.
