Ultimately, Mokuzu, like Mao, Nanoka, Hyakka, and perhaps even Haimaru/Byoki before him, was also a victim or pawn of someone mysterious and more powerful. I believe we'll see the effects of this much-vaunted taishan fujun in the next episode.

I was hoping some sort of whale would appear inside Mokuzu's water body. The stingray as the nose was a nice touch.
