Not entirely sure why the gate was introduced into this story, it just seems like an idea for a more metaphysical/metafictional story; as opposed to this one about the way hardships in life are always more prevalent and painful for those without power and how difficult it is for them to get out of those horrible situations.
Overall a fun series with great art and plenty of fun characters (even if not all of them were well explored), just a bit mixed in its plotting.
It could have been longer but oh well. It was great while it lasted. The ending felt quite good to me. Even though many characters could have gotten explored more. I really enjoyed reading this every week and hope the mangaka makes another series in the future
Not a full on indepth review, but I'll call it a lite review
First I'll start with the good. This series has amazing art. It does a good job of mixing in basic cartoonish style and raw, almost realistic look. It's very similar to Togashi imo. The fight scenes were also impeccable, although at times it would get kind of vague as to what I was actually looking at, most of the choreography at least to me was clear and precise. Ofc, it has that rawness affect which I enjoyed but, like I said, it was a bit confusing at times. The plot stayed true to the end. Despite the gate which I agree, I don't know why the hell it was added, the message the series was carrying to convey still held up all the way to the end. This series also had great social commentary and philosophies. Throughout the whole story, the author was dropping quotes for days. The main characters were also cool and compelling. They all had realistic flaws that made them complex.
Next, the bad. The gate. Why on earth was it added? Who knows. It was also NEVER explained too, which was hella weird. Also why didn't the government experiment on aiboba? I'm wondering that because the gate is insane. This series did just fine before the gate was added and I actually enjoyed the down to earth feeling it had. Secondly, the lack of actual longevity. This series could've gone for wayyyyyy longer. But I'm actually impressed the author managed to tie a lot of stuff together in such short amount of chapters so props to that ig. But yes, looking at the plot that this series established and the characters within the world, you would think it would've gone on longer, but oh well.
Overall, despite the flaws, it didn't completely ruin the series for me, and I hope to see this authors next work. Hopefully a story that isn't rushed and actually has some longevity because the amount of potential this author has is immense. It manages to tell a better story within 46 chapters than the entirety of SD(sorry I just had to)
