i decided to look more into the original creator and found an interview where he says he churns out tons of slop he doesn't actually like with the goal of having at least some of it be picked up by publisher. i actually feel a little bad for the guy

I also feel a bit bad for the guy given the interview koalateaname linked, you can put your heart and soul into a work only for it to get no recognition at all. I feel like he could make something great; the intrigue parts hint at his skill, yet because he is slopmaxxing we do get something that (slightly) exceeds meets the entertainment / disappointment ratio.
This dude's advice to his past self "Study loglines, stop writing whatever you want. Or stop trying to be a writer right now"... sad but funny

Yeah, this feel off. Some of the intrigue stuff is well though out, but also one sided and a bit too "trust me bro"-ish. And the pacing is off. The show so far feels disjointed and unfocused. Like it's trying to rush to the interesting part, but that might be next season by the looks of it. Which probably will be the reason we will never see it.
