I had low expectation, so the first episode is quite better than I expected.
Really cool first episode, I love the MC energy and passion!
Let's be honest, he's a bit nuts but it's kinda inspiring to see him holding on to his dreams all the way to his almost forties. Which is not that old honestly. I can understand selling all of your treasured stuff so that it can be bought by other fans instead of being thrown away but it's not like he's near the end of his life.
Can't wait to see how his inevitable meeting with Kamen Rider Lady will go.
I wonder if we'll see the blonde and her boyfriend again? They disappeared after the high-school flashback and instead, we got introduced to a yakuza antagonist who's a fan of Shockers.
Also, I love the takoyaki ball training in the ED. Go!

It's been a long time since I laughed so hard watching an anime! What a masterpiece of a first episode!
Definitely my favorite first episode of the season. I had no idea this was airing or what it was, but it's right up my alley.
Riderrrr kickkkkkkkk
I love that little Takoyaki :)
I was expecting a little ridiculousness due to having watched Airmaster in the distant past. But this show has upped it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Properly laughed out loud at one point.
Looking forward to the next ep.
I think this is going to be the dark horse of the season. The animation was actually pretty good, especially in the beginning when he's watching the Kamen Rider's on his tv. I hope this stays pretty realistic like Kick Ass.
huuuuh idk, it was weird af, and not in the right way...
I'll see what the next episode has to offer
The music when he fought the bear was incredible anyone know the name of it?
It's pretty fire yeah X)
It's probably "RIDER, RIDER" by Teddyloid. The other one seems to be the song we hear during the festival at the end.
But it doesn't seem to be available yet.
I will keep an eye out for it
let's go rider kick by teddyoid and hero's calling by him too
let's go rider kick by teddyloid
I loved this zany, delusional character, there's something very fun and pathetic at the same time about this self-made outcast. I will definitely watch his female counterpart's episode.
This could be an interesting ride...
pleasantly surprised, i'm going to give this 3 episodes at least
The fact that for many, you don’t really know what you’re getting into and end up being surprised is quite enjoyable. Nice first episode: they managed to play with the ridiculous without falling into it. Let’s hope it stays that way for the rest of the series
It gave me a smile
MASTERPIECE, MASTERFUCKINGPIECE, no other word does it justice, I'm left speechless, it's way, WAY, WAAAAAY better than I expected (and here I was thinking it was just another meh... Kamen Rider anime) it made laugh so hard, and moved emotionally so damn fucking hard too, AND THEY EVEN COVERED THE FUCKING OG FEMALE RIDER, mad, mad, MAD, MAAAAAD, EVERY SINGLE DAMN MOMENT, SECOND, MINUTE, SHOT, SCENE, CHARACTER, NAME IT. Hands down best anime this fall/autumn already and HENSHIN KAMEN RIDER.
FACTS!!!!! Tojima is so freaking awesome and cool I couldn't believe how good this first episode was! I hope more kamen rider animes come out in future but right now I'm ready glad we got a masterpiece like this!
You know this made me want to watch the original 1971 Kamen Rider, I've seen many, many seasons (and btw the new/current season: Kamen Rider Zeztz is amazing, give it a shot if you haven't yet), even the movie remake of the original, but never saw the original show itself, and this particular episode made me want to dive into it.
I really appreciate the fact the author seems to actually understand what the appeal of Rider is, rather than going for the usual "LOLZERS ISNT TOKU STUPID? WHAT IF SENTAI SAID FUCK" approach most "toku-inspired" anime and manga seem to have (granted, there are some wonderful exceptions out there; Keyman, Akumetsu, Ninja Slayer, to name a few...but the ones that get popular in the west all boil down to the same annoying cynicism). I was a bit afraid they'd go the "oh I work out and I'm super stoic and good at fighting now" route, but doesn't seem like it, thankfully. Him crying in his fight against the goons was a nice, realistic touch.
Tsuda voicing a guy who saw Shocker and felt inspired to become a criminal because of it made me laugh - to those of you unaware of Showa-era Kamen Rider installments' plot, Shocker is a bit more than your average villain of the week bad guy organization from Power Rangers and the like. They do the nazi salute, have random swastikas here and there, and one episode sees them looking for Hitler's treasure. The exact kind of cartoonishly misguided people you can, surprisingly, find both online and irl nowadays.
Not sure if I like the weird remix of the original show's theme yet, but I liked whatever it was that was playing during MC's fight with the goons.
Agreed with everyone saying the stop-motion takoyaki ED is funny. Mad props to whoever worked on that.
My only complaint is that the artstyle doesn't quite lend itself well to the anime sometimes. It looks okay, fine even, but it's kinda like The Fable, imo, where I'm just so used to the thinner lines and B/W colorscheme of the manga that seeing it in color feels off. Maybe it'll grow on me, who knows.
Curious to see if the Electro-Wave Human Tackle reference lady will date this show; Rider has been getting more and more well-written heroines in the main cast the past couple years (shoutouts to Neon especially), so depending on whether she comments on that, we'll see when the source material came out, lol.
Absolutely no notes from my part. This thing is so out there, and I'm here for it
this was so quirky and funny, this is the kind of thing I'm into, I'm in
There was a reference from Crows Zero too which was funny.
This is literally the best gift for a kamen rider fan!!!! I was smiling throughout the whole episode, 10/10 for me he's so cool
WTF THIS WAS SO GOOD!!!
That speech in the playground applied to irl too
