The animation wasn't the best, but I really liked the artstyle, especially when it used kind of a watercolor effect? The dry humor got a few laughs out of me as well. I think I'll give this one another episode or two

Dekin no Mogura just aired today. Not the best anime but still fun to watch. I really like the first episode. Let's see how the story guys as Mogura spends his time with Yaeko and Magi while catching the spirits. Is this anime recommended? Yes if you don't take anime seriously and just enjoy them or have too much free time.

yeah I don't know, wasn't a very strong start for me, I didn't feel that it did anything particularly well and the art style and animation for me is below average so I'm not sure I'll enjoy my time with it. That said there's always a chance things can surprise you.

Right from the first episode, the anime makes it clear it's not going to follow any formula. It has a mysterious vibe, but it's calm. It's funny, but also sad. The opening feels like it's from a high school comedy anime, but the overall tone is melancholic, sometimes even uncomfortable.
Mogura, this half-spirit, half-cosmic-drifter figure, starts messing with the protagonist’s perception of life and death. The pacing is slow, deliberately anticlimactic, but full of subtle clues about a strange universe, like everything carries a hidden weight.
It’s an anime full of uncomfortable silences, long pauses, and conversations that don't offer easy answers. And that “awkward sincerity” is very real. The characters say things most people would normally hide or just imply. The result is a kind of welcome existential discomfort, the kind that lingers and makes you think about it for days.
I watched it yesterday and that’s exactly how I felt.

The world building is phenomenal, and nothing is spelled out for you. It’s all implied.
The two students act like awkward University students.
I love it. You can’t turn off your brain. At least, not in the first episode.

Came into this with zero expectations - just one more seasonal anime EP 1 to try. The dialogue and humor captured me from the get-go. These characters don't look like typical anime characters, and don't sound like typical anime characters. The combination of dark fantasy and gritty earthbound reality is a hit. Great stuff, and exactly why I set out to watch as many ep 1s as I possibly can. Worth sifting through the repetitive harem and fighting trash to find a gem like this one.
