Even though the written works were released earlier, the anime is the series “original source” as first announced as a “P.A. Works original animation project”.
The manga and LN are adaptations developed from the original anime, not the other way around
(Same thing happened with the Evangelion manga, developed from but started releasing before the original anime to drum up viewers.)
Sometimes to build up hype they'll release a manga/LN along with it, but it's based on the contents in the anime that's already been/being developed. For example, Blood-C's movie. The movie is original but CLAMP worked to develop a LN adaptation of the movie and released it prior.
