This was definitely the calm before the storm, a break from all the darkness, high stakes and struggles that our protagonists have been going through. Wholesome comedy sketches like this are welcomed, I don't think it takes away from the heartbreaking story or causes any disconnect here + Hyakki got his swords refined and his relationship with Dororo was strengthened once again. 5 more episodes to go!

Personally, the humor in this episode was very strange to see compared to the last 18 episodes. I found it difficult to watch and ended up skipping a lot of parts.
Although, I do agree, the calm after the storm is nice to have.
