I thought Higuma started pretty decent (the better of the 3 rookies at that time Chainsaw and ne0) but in the past weeks it was boring asf and I think it was the better for the author
It's definitely pretty unfortunate but it's easy to see why it was cancelled so early, it wasn't very good imo. It did get a bit more interesting to me recently as the story revealed more of Higuma's past but the series still wasn't anything special.
Have in mind that the last 5 or so chapters where made with the knowledge that it was going to be cancelled.
Either way, I thought the series was pretty mediocre overall, it had some interesting poins, but honestly, with Kimetsu no Yaiba, Chainsaw-Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, we already had a bunch of Demon Hunting manga at the same time in the same magazine, so it's natural at least one of them would be cancelled and Yaiba and Kaisen are selling decently well apparently, and Chainsaw-Man is at least unique in it's delivery, like it or not.
