I like the "kaiju sounds"...and that's the only praise I can give.

aw come on! you didnt like the animation of that fight? but fair enough, this show isnt supposed to be mind blowing.

  I don't deny...that the fighting animation was really good.
  But that alone does almost nothing to me.
  I mean I wanted now to do some kind of comparison between Kaiju No. 8 and Solo Leveling (Maybe about this fight in this Kaiju No.8 episode and the one in episode 11 of Solo Leveling)...
  But even me a Solo Leveling "hater"...I can say: "-At least it had less comedy and more gore than Kaiju."
  But coming back to the Kaiju No.8 Episode 8 animation...was good...very good...not exceptional...but very good. (I wish "we" had just half of this quality in the last week's episode of Mushoku Tensei)

    The biggest offender in this anime for me is the logical flaw behind trying to keep Kafka's kaiju hidden with a really weak reason. They haven't even thought about the long-term situation of his kaiju. Will he just keep it hidden until his death? What even is the cause of this transformation? It's like Kafka and his friends try to avoid the topic of his kaiju at all cost, and it's never brought up consequently. It's as if they were all lobotomized to a state where they can't even think properly when it comes to Kafka's kaiju, defaulting to dismissing it. So many opportunities to explore such areas and potentially, officially collaborate with humans through good networking and testimonials, but zero actions done for any of these (like Kafka didn't even say a single word during the fight against the vice-captain or the many witnesses of kaiju no 8 didn't testify that he saved them).
    For me, Solo Leveling, as simple as it is, at least remains logical and consistent throughout the entirety of its story with a clear theme it wants to convey. I also think SL's animation excels more than Kaiju No 8.

Man, Kafka's whole kaiju transformation thing gotta be the worst kept secret I've seen in anime. This man is HOPELESS lmao

Also... I can’t shake the feeling that Hoshina had ulterior movite(s) when he recommended Kafka... grimaces

I am so annoyed because I keep thinking this is going to be a 24 episode anime but I keep remembering its 12 and this needs to be more then 12 episodes.

I can only hope season 2 will come out soon enough

I didn't read the manga so I have no clue if this is true or not but I feel like someone is going to die and it's going to be the vice captain or something, just a hunch

I've seen a lot of people say they hate this anime and a lot of people say they love this anime, but I can only really say it's been unremarkable so far.

I hope the last four episodes change my mind though.

Only thing different imo is the character design compared to the manga. Everything else is amazing.

I wonder how Mina would react if Reno decides to speak about being saved from a Kaiju since she knows about a good Kaiju she knew from that kid before.

Are we watching the same show? The show explains pretty well why he can't just tell everyone and I think goes too far and practically bashes you over the head with it. They explain in the 2nd phase of the exam that the weapons and armor are made from kaiju parts which is already hint enough, but they still have Kikoru outright tell Kafka that if he reveals that he is the Kaiju that he will almost certainly be turned into a lab rat to try and create more kaiju soldiers. Even if everyone believes he is good, he would probably be more useful torn apart and made into 5 specialized captain weapons in the eyes of the KSF.

As for discussions, there could be more there, but for now it's pretty clear that the group is just trying to keep the status quo. Reno is trying his best to make it so Kafka never has to transform and can live out his life as a normal KDF officer. Based on the physical test Kafka views the Kaiju form as a crutch and wants to be by Mina's side through his own efforts. Kafka never uses his form outside of extreme emergencies and it's pretty clear on that.

Finally for building connections. Right now he has 3 people who could testify for him and Mina. I doubt Mina would actually vouch for him because not once has she put Kafka ahead of her job. Both the decision to make Kafka a cadet and subsequently an officer were both Hoshina's decisions and not hers. She has her role to consider that is a captain of a division and the poster girl of the entire KDF which she can't just easily put at risk by fraternizing with a kaiju no matter who it is. You also have to consider that she spent most of her life now training solely to kill kaiju and her home was destroyed by a kaiju, so why would she believe in a good kaiju no mater who it is. Also no matter how its portraited Mina isn't the leader of the entire KDF and is merely a divisional captain. It's not like she can give any orders to protect Kafka even if she did believe in him.

So now we are left with Reno, Kikoru, and Gen. Reno and Gen have 0 actual influence outside of being pretty strong new recruits which isn't abnormal for this class. Kikoru has her family connections, but again these characters have known each other for a few months now, so it's debatable if she would risk that too. It would just bring suspicion on them if anything if they advocated for Kafka. How would they know that they aren't helping what would be an evil Kaiju infiltrate the ranks and Kafka protected them because they are his allies.

Also you have to consider who Kafka is to the characters who don't know his powers. He was basically a division jester for Hoshina. The training incident was officially handled by Kikoru, so he has no accreditation there. He had incredibly underwhelming training scores and he now only has 1 official mission where he was helpful to everyone. He hasn't done anything to earn anyone's trust yet, specifically Hoshina's.

That's a really bad, cliche reason imo or, at the very least, not strong enough to warant dismissing the issue altogether. They talk about it for a good 2 minutes and never touch on it again, especially in the many situations where the natural thought process should, in theory, lead back to this issue.
There are many flaws in the reason (partially because it's just bad/cliche and partially because it's severly underexplained/underexplored), here are some of them:
Kafka's Kaiju form would eventually be found out by more and more people (it's already happening), so there's really no point in forgetting about this issue. I don't even believe anyone on the human side can stand up to him power-wise.
Potential to save millions of people >>>> "uncertainty" of what they'll do to Kafka (even though he's so much stronger) + consequences of not utilising Kafka's kaiju
The worst part is that they don't even try to look back on this topic, even after encountering so many opportunities that would help to reveal Kafka's kaiju. As of now, there are at least 5 witnesses to advocate for Kafka's kaiju (especially in recent episodes where more people got saved by Kafka's kaiju), but none have spoken up for whatever reason. Just speaking about what you witnessed in front of you already helps build rumours and some foundation to Kafka's innocence. And there's no risk in doing that lol, it's quite literally just saying what you saw as a witness.
