It’s never been good tbh. The manga’s writing has been awful from the beginning. Just a power fantasy like most isekais are.

You realize the manga isnt the main source material right? It is adapted from a novel and changed events a bit. In the first novel, when we occasionally see things from Shizus point of view, she mentions kag as being the one who told her the quote, so it is not "lazy/awful writing" and makes sense with the actual context from the light novel. Rimuru absorbed Shizu, gained her memories, therefore he actually knew a quote kag used towards shizu to defuse the fight unlike with Hinata. Also, what is wrong with a story being a "power fantasy"? That doesnt auto make it bad. Maybe you two should give the actual source a chance instead of judging the authors writing based on versions that skip and alter things in the story, just sayin

Did we ever talk about the source material? Besides, an adaptation should stand on its own. If it requires to read its source material to be good it simply means it’s of bad quality.
