The animation was TOO CLEAN, ost was basically unfathomably excellent, and there is no way the Stern shippers going to sleep tonight.
I haven't seen a level of consistently great animation for this long in a long time(hasn't watch Tsurune S2 though) and I'm hoping for the same level of quality in the next big arc

I think some are hating on this show just because they are fanboys of other anime and don't want Frieren to have a higher score. Those people who are not aware you can like many shows.
i think they are just twitter users
no hate but it is true that frieren depicts certain groups and institutions uncritically like the clergy, nobility etc and downplays their power, so I wouldn't take this representation as realistic in any way.
Fan fact: Tatsuro Otake School of Dancing choreographed the dance scene and the whole scene was 2D with great volume. Some might think it was rotoscoped or 3D but it wasn't. Absolutely stellar work by everyone involved. Show don't tell during the dance with increasing confidance of both Fern and Stark, and those genuine smiles. I can't take it anymore. It is so good and heartwarming.
Apparently the same animator did that one walking cycle scene from the first episode of Bocchi The Rock. The name of said animator is Myoun.

It was very interesting in the first part, observing Sein's fighting skills and his great show of trust towards Frieren who was then fantastic in closing the fight. In the second part it was fun to see Stark and Fern engage with etiquette, but it was also very touching, for a parent to lose a child is the worst possible thing.

~Frieren might be one of the best series I have seen that teaches how to cope with loss so naturally. Its not overly dramatic, some neat little details and at the same time very VERY inspiring. It teaches how people, things, oppertunities come and go.And instead of finding replacements, its better to cherish those moments due the fact that one day an individual might not be. ~
~And the way the parallels are handeled is simply sublime. Not going to lie this adaptation is truly special considering it elevates the highs of the manga so beautifully.(Which itself is a great work)~~Contrary to my statement in episode 13, I def ship Fern and Stark now, they really have such a great dynamic. And it was satisfying seeing Fern taste some of my boy`s struggle.~~~

About this though
it depends on what they expect. Sometimes the score sets your expectations a bit to high and Frieren is still building up in a way(we havent even touched the main journey properly) and that can ultimately lead to disappointment.
Also some others expect high fantasy. Frieren has great world building but its something between a high fantasy and a normal one... The point is the main charm comes from the relationships between characters and the themes it represents. And some expect it to be similar to Violet evergarden even though both stories are actually pretty different apart from how they both deal with the themes of loss.(I prefer Frieren`s approach more yet I love both of them)
So yeah high expectations + being mislead with preconceived notions +comparison with stories which share some similarities leads to disappointment by certain minorities.
Also people have different tastes(its subjective) not everyone will like the same thing but I suppose its something thats hard to accept when people hate the things you love..
Yes don't get me wrong, I know some people just have different tastes and I fully see how Frieren is not for everyone.
But sometimes I see people calling it straight up garbage and I just have no idea what those people would consider a "decent" anime then. Even if you don't like the story or way the story is told I don't know how people can deny that it's just beautifully animated. The OST is also pretty good in my opinion. Haters will be haters I guess.
Maybe it's because I also enjoy just some silly slice of life anime that I don't find the slow progress of the story annoying at all. I love all those small interactions and flashbacks with the characters but I can see how some people might find that boring.
I still don't understand how people could call Frieren a bad show from an objective kind of view - if they really rated it objectively.
I see Violet Evergarden also named all the time, calling Frieren a copy of it. I guess I will check it out and see where those peoples complains come from. I am a pretty "positive" viewer I would say, I only call out something as bad if I REALLY think there are problems else I can always see the positive side and appeal for certain audiences. So I imagine I will like Violet Evergarden as well.
Welp... most of them are battle shounen fans ig(Ngl, i have made a rule to stay away from them now) or just elitists or just people who hate popular stuff for the sake of it...
Oh... Frieren by NO means or is in anyway similar to violet evergarden... Whatever similarities both share are coincidental... Violet evergarden is a beautiful slice of life that does hit right in the feels but its main theme is just learning the different forms of "love" and dealing with "loss". The love theme is the main one though.
Frieren is a fantasy and about "time" being a fleeting moment with a pleothera of themes. Ultimately its about the human experience from the prespective of things that arent human or just an elf trying to understand how people work.
And yes its action oriented... Heck even the way the stories are told is highly different tbh... Violet is more dramatic in a way.
So yeah. I do prefer Frieren much more though but oh well its always a subjective case and ratings can make people prejudiced sometimes... Just ignore them until unless the want to engage in meaningfull discussion with good prespectives

It's so simple, people simply dislike it, that's that, people can dislike things, although I won't just watch if people criticize the production of Sousou No Frieren, it's one of the best adaptations of the decade.

All the additions to chapter 32 were amazing especially the dancing scene and Sein's fight from 31 was really cool as well.
Props to madhouse for making a perfect adaptation to one of my favorite manga.

Beautiful episode, especially the dance scene. I always appreciate it when they put effort into choreographing dance sequences.
No cap, this is one of the greatest anime I've ever watched in my life, and I'm so so happy to see it be treated with the love and respect it deserves. I hope people continue to talk about it and praise it, so that it will get a season 2. Absolute masterpiece. And we've barely made it half-way into the season.
The soundtrack when Frieren woke up is absolute peak.
I not only loved the ball and the elegance they animated Fern and Stark with, the color and the amazing music, but when that part of Stark's past kinda healed too. I think that the fact that he saw him on the youngest son but their treatment is different was like fresh air or like a closure to his poorly treated childhood, and I almost cry when Stark smiled while the count talked about his son like that. Plus Frieren killing that monster in 5 sec and how Sein was thinking so fast amazed me!

Every ep is just so damn good mannn. The story, the animation, the OSTs, the characters, the visuals, etc. Everything is so clean and beautiful. This show is literally perfection. We are so lucky that Madhouse, one of the GOAT studio picked this project.
