idk why ppl can't stop hating it I mean to be it's very evident that this anime is the fav of the animators. they put in more effort in each ep of JJK than the whole of hell's paradise (even though i liked that one too). i think the animation was cool, the fights were animated greatly, the voice actors did a pretty good job too. overall a great episode for me
no one is hating on the animation, it's the ghosting that makes everything messy, the animation itself is superb

I don't think I've seen a fight be ruined this much by ghosting/dimming. I'm hoping that people don't put this on the animators but simply on Japanese television laws that force them to dim and ghost these cuts to avoid watchers from having strokes like the Porygon incident.

Not being rude but no one has ever hyped up mechamaru vs mahito. It's just important for the story, and still the fight choreography was better than most fights of the goodwill event arc . People have hyped up this Shibuya arc and it's just begun, so yeah I hope you don't judge an 18 episode arc by the first 2 episodes and enjoy for what's about to come
You're saying it's not special when it hasn't even started yet. Regardless of the adaptation, the content alone is what makes the hype deserved.
As for the animation, that's mostly due to the dimming and ghosting enforced by Japanese TV law.
tbh I've never seen so much hype this fight, even today, only more others fights. i even forgot about this fight until previous episode lol

The fight between Mechamaru and Mahito was fun, a lot of animation, and they really animated the big mecha 2D all the way through. Sadly, the ghosting this episode was very strong and some cuts are completely ruined because you really can’t tell what’s happening in this mess.
To explain what ghosting is: It’s basically dimming/blurring flashier looking animation according to epilepsy laws in Japan for broadcasting. Sadly nothing you can do about it, we would need to wait for the Bluray to sort it out. Apart from that though, it was fun. I just didn’t have a high emotional investment into Mechamaru, so I wasn’t really invested in him winning (and that he would lose was pretty predictable). But I can see why mecha fans have a field day with this fight, a lot of fun stuff.

And the 2nd part of the episode was pretty intriguing, I like the new soundtrack, the drawings are also very strong. We’ll see in the next episode what Geto and co. have in store to seal Gojo.

MECHAMARU vs MAHITO:
What an amazing fight with stunning graphics, animations, and camera angles. Extremely well-choreographed fight. It was a bit sad though, Mechamaru was fighting for Miwa and later Miwa even revealed that she was interested in Mechamaru. But it was predictable that he was gonna lose without really killing Mahito and wouldn't get to see everyone again.
The latter part of the episode after the fight, was self-sufficient too. Can't wait for the Shibuya Arc
Fun episode of Evangelion, though the fight looked very fast paced and impressive I kinda feel that much of the action was just lights and colours being flashed across the screen rather than actual animated stuff.
Also, ghosts, cursed spirits, sourcerers, huge magic barriers all fine, but the idea of that Evangelion being built in the Heian period (900-1200ish) is just silly
I was under the impression that it was the technique that was created and passed down since then, not the mech itself.
the mechamaru vs mahito fight was so sick it, it was so triggerlike i loved it. and the mahito domain expansion is still so cool to see. and the buildup for the next ep was tooooo good i want it so bad.
