This probably isn't going to help since I've only played two of the SAO games and learned things about the anime though osmosis. But, I mainly played Fatal Bullet because I got bored with Phantasy Star Online 2. I played FB for over 160 hours on Steam. I got the basic "If you die in the game, you die for real" schtick, give or take what happens in Sword Art Online II compared to what I do as an original character in Fatal Bullet. And I'm sure it's a similar deal with the Hollow Realization game versus the manga versus whichever season of the anime HR correlates to.
So my answer, for whatever it's worth, is no. For example: I wouldn't recommend watching an adaptation of Persona 3, 4 or 5 as a substitute for playing actually Persona 3, 4 or 5, but in the other way around for SAO since I imagine that the anime and manga series are more relevant and have more substance to SAO's overarching Kirito-centric story, while Fatal Bullet and some of the other games best serve as a possible entry points for folks like me who just like anime RPGs and shooters.
