The protagonist seems cringe. My impression wasn't that he's realistic, I felt like he's just obtuse and dumb.
The girls are pretty meh as well. Honestly, I just finished the episode and can barely recall what happened in it. So unremarkable.

I'm not sure how the pacing is in the LN but this episode went through about 6 chapters of the manga. When realistically it could've gone through half of that and had a bigger impact. I felt like they made it super fast paced trying to get through content as fast as possible making it super generic and the feels and awkwardness were lost with it. I got lost when they blended multiple days into what felt like one without a clear induction that it was the next day. Unfortunately appears to be a shitty adaptation so far. Hopefully it gets better

I found pacing not that bad, plus maybe they decided for that, to show more events right from the beginning, so later on they'll be able to go further up in the story.

yeah but i mean it was literally "hey this is Aikawa" and then not 2 seconds later "hey people think your dating her or trying to date her (or whatever the hell was going on there)" and then 5 seconds later "oh hey here's a meaningful conversation out of nowhere, oop now we've moved on and she's back with her boyfriend"
from what i gather this seems to be about a guy who gets a bit of depression and stops chasing after the girl he likes... which is an amazing story i want to see and they seem to be getting that across but the way this episode is done it's literally him being fine, the soccer ball appears and then suddenly he has these thoughts, i would've assumed if anything it'd be a revelation at the end of the episode that he had these feelings but nope, i just... idk man, i hope it gets better because this is a mess rn lol

It seems to me, that this is a very interesting anime. Girls are cute, relationships between the characters is quite mysterious I would say.
Based on this first episode I would recommend watching this anime, if You're into romance genre.
I'm looking forward to see how the story unfolds.

I don't enjoy it and IMO the series title give some watcher wrong expectation, which lead to disappointment.

I've been reading the LN for a while now (I'm at volume 6 currently), and i can safely say this will probably be a bad adaptation. The MAIN thing they cut are Sajou's thoughts. You guys know Oregairu, right? That monologue based light novel? This one is the same kind. His thoughs are what make him the "realist" from the title, and are the backbone of the whole story. There is a whole explanation and reason why he "suddenly" starts seeing himself as unworthy of Natskawa. And aside from the very first couple minutes, they are totally absent here.
Also, what the fuck, she coming to his house is like, in the beginning of the first volume, whereas Aizawa going back to her boyfriend is much later, like Volume 2.
It is sad. I was hoping it would do LN justice, but it doesn't look so.

even i can tell this is bad, i will try to pick up the LN (or manga) though because the idea of somebody who, let's be honest here, basically gets a bit of depression and stops chasing his girl and the story about how he ends up fixing that is something i actually really want to read and enjoy, ima still watch the anime for now but i'll definitely be giving the source a try
it seems that the studio behind this (both of them) are also doing the Vending Machine Isekai so i'm starting to think this was just a side project filler anime they pulled out of their ass and it's really dissapointing

i expected this to be some kind of romcom where the MC deals with depression or some shit but i'm watching the first ep and i'm completely confused i have no fucking clue what's going on lol
like how did it go from him meeting Aizawa to them suddenly thinking he had a thing for her or some shit... i just... W H A T???

They are adapting at sonic speed, fitting like half of volume 1 in episode 1. Somewhat understandable since almost nothing develops for so long in the LN but it is going to be a very rough adaptation and I can't understand why they chose it

Damn, didn't expect that the female protagonist would make me despise her in the first episode. Yeah, let's ignore someone's approaches for a few years and then get instantly mad at them when they stop.
The friend knows about their circumstances and their feelings, the whole premise of this plot would crumble if she only fucking talked with them, but I guess that would be too mature for someone who called him a cheater because of him speaking with another girl.
Who the hell wrote this? Is the author a self-inserting masochist? Is there even one likeable character in this anime?

I must not have been watching the same anime as everyone else, because the one I saw had:
- A years-long case of stalking
- Social isolation of the victim
- Complicity FOR the stalking, from both the student body and the school staff
- Gaslighting
- Multiple forms of manipulation
- Chronic lying
- Stockholm Syndrom
- AND the pièce de résistance, victim-blaming.
But it's ok though right? Because there wasn't any creepy music or weird camera angles, and the whole thing was framed as a romance? Right?
Right.
I award this show a 'call the police'/10.

Sad thing is that none of this should be 'opinion' or 'open to interpretation', because it's blatantly right there in the open. BUT, you'll always have those people who defend this stuff (like the ones who gave 'Shoujo Ramune a '10', and say 'Happy Sugar Life' is yuri romance).

Although watching this was INCREDIBLY painful to the eyes, it was also surprisingly entertaining. Am looking forward to episode 2...until i'm not.

Is this show just someone's NTR fetish in romance form or something? It gets the 3 episode rule to give it a chance but I don't have high hopes for this getting better.

One of the most misleading summaries I've ever read. Everything that made me hyped to watch the anime, AKA the stuff described in the summary, is already over with the first episode. They gave us the impression it would be a somewhat-dramatic anime where a guy loves a girl, but realizes she doesn't and starts to keep his distance, but that's not what they gave us at all, he's more like a psychopath obsessive person. I think even cattle auctions aren't as rushed as this anime is.
I'll give it the rule of 3, if it doesn't get any better by then, I think I might drop it.

Might as well just read the LN. I've read a bit of it, and from what it looks like so far, it's significantly better than the anime. Characters just feel like they lack the same essence, and feel one dimensional

I havent watched it. Still trying to figure out if i should. Read some comments and read the plot. Seems like they are both in love with eachother? Is that right? Cuz it definitely doesnt look that way. From what ive seen dude is a stalker and she told him to get lost in several occasions. Doesnt look like she love him
