Is it just an accumulation of some non canon side stories?
Seemingly yes. Not non-canon, but just side stories.
Or does it make the plot progress further?
Not so far. Hence why it has the “side story” relation and not “sequel”, although if it indicates such we will update the relation.
Edit: Some episodes have flashbacks to parts of the first season, so you should probably watch these side stories after...
