The backstory and the eternity devil might be my favorite parts in this episode, loved the atmosphere in the backstory and how creepily the introduction to the eternity devil was done.

Tbh i liked the preanimated cut of them running from the devil better with denji pushing aki behind him while running but for a smooth flow of an episode it might not be the best
Not a huge fan of the ED (it might be the weakest so far for me) but the visuals were pretty good, with it all ending behind the door plus each of the memories in an endless spiral was cool
New episode was fire! It has been exactly what I had hoped this arc would be in the adaptation, so far. Seems like the anime is catching up to the manga in terms of conveying emotions, too.
I wasn't the biggest fan of the ending song, but the animation was pretty sick.

It still exists but we typically only have it turned on for less active threads because threads like the above that actually have content in the OP is vastly preferred

What an episode. With someone like Enokido I expected more action, but he showed that he is an amazing director in his own right by creating such a immersive experience by utilizing the setting and dynamic camera movement.
Also the usage of shadows, which were alternatively used to express the movement, but it also feels isolating, slightly claustrophobic with the everlasting same environment
It's also funny how everyone is either extremely tense or on the verge of a mental breakdown, but Denji is just thinking about sleeping (he did mention in the previous episode after all, that he's tired)
Himeno also mentioned this episode that apparently crazy people are more feared by devils, I guess, Denji fits the bill
probably because crazier people are much more difficult to scare, it's nice to have people like Arai and Kobeni in here, since they're more what I consider normal people and the contrast between crazy and normal people shows here
We also received backstory to Himeno and Aki, which was really sweet. The color themes were top notch again, a nice contrast to the dilemma in the present
This cut though. God damn.
Aki was really sweet for doing that, this backstory gave a lot of nuance to both Himeno and Aki and also made me more invested into their relationship
It's also both interesting and entertaining how these flashbacks are effectively used to show the contrast between past and present
The real highlight of the episode at least for easily is the Eternity Devil though... Love the design (they still keep animating these complicated designs in 2D, my god...) but also this bizarre creature is just the last missing piece to make this truly a horror experience.
The sudden shift from a claustrophobic/isolating experience to just a straight up run-for-your-fucking-life was perfect. Kobeni was already mentally unstable but when she finally went completely nuts, the Eternity Devil went nuts too
Love the rotation shot, absolutely flawless, also how each of them is differently animated
Directing especially strong there, cuts being used to fuel the intensity
Sakugabooru doesn't have many credits as of now but I need to know who did this jesus christ
Also flickering light, the floor literally tilting.... peak intensity

It was also very effective to have the cast be so human. Himeno prioritizing Aki over anyone else, Akai and Himeno panicking... Even more so, it was touching how Aki protected Denji nonetheless, even if it wasn't out of simple goodness
PTSD of Himeno also strongly kicking in like that, wow... This episode made Himeno such a likeable and interesting character
Funnily enough we have the crazy thing going here again. If there is no solution, might as well try something risky
Also, what a badass cut, also once again working perfectly with the camera. Love it!!

Ok i’m sorry but we’re halfway through now and i’ve yet to see anything that makes this anime different from your average shounen. The animation is amazing but there’s not much else that’s special
I've yet to see a guy transform into a guy with chainsaws for arms fighting demons for a company in any other shounen so I think you haven't actually been watching the anime.
By that logic, all shounens are different and none are the same. It's an overall analysis.

If you are looking for it be different from other shonen then you probably won't find it in season 1.

I'd suggest the manga after the season ends. It might be a long wait for the next season but you might get a better understanding of why it's quite different from most shonen. Same with JJK where it's all quite basic shonen stuff, and only gets elevated later on.
I think you'll enjoy this seasons final arc though.
I think I will read the manga. I want to give this series a chance but the anime is so slow paced
Trust me it gets crazier it may seem to follow other shounen but it doesnt mappa is surprisingly slow with the pacing(not bad just unexpectedly slow) i thought the eternity devil gonna be done in a single episode
Also unfortunately alot of the good stuff happen later so they might not even cover it in the first season
The problem with the anime is that it's gonna take a few weeks to get to the subversions and twists meaning for the first like 8 weeks it's just gonna feel like a standard shonen. Where as if you read the breakneck speed mach 10000 manga you'll get to the twists immediately and realize "oh shit, this hits different wtf".
Honestly this is why I prefer the manga so far, reading CSM feels like a batshit insane fever dream, the anime is taking it's time and pacing itself like JJK or any other shonen, not that I'm bashing it, you can't really achieve the same in an anime format so I don't blame them too much.

As someone who read the manga I wanna inform you of something that no other manga reader seems to realize or remember, and it's that the manga never got that popular until it was like half way through. Indeed, whenever people talk about how much they love chainsaw man, they're probably talking about the last 30 or so chapters that were published. at the pace the show is adapting the story, we won't get to the "Great/Unique" part until season 2 AT MINIMUM.
I loved the manga, but yeah these people acted like the ending reflected the entire run. the first of half of chainsaw man, while very well made, does little to break the mold. I'm sorry if you were led astray, hype is a lying bitch

Amazing episode as always and interesting build up, Eternity having a grudge against Pochita makes me wonder wtf did Pochita do to him.
Also Aki having some overpowered cursed sword really makes me hyped up to see it in use. Sword Devil giving very heavy contracts compared to Kon.
Kobeni crying was hilarious, if she doesn't get her shit together she better start practicing her dick sucking skills cause Devil Hunting ain't for her.

This episode kinda lacked content in my opinion. They were kinda just stuck in the backrooms and didn't do much.
Loved the detailed animation though, but I felt like it got ruined by the low framerate in some cases.
Honestly so happy they have done such a good job with it so far. I had doubts at first but so far its just about perfect.
