It was a very sweet ending :)
It was really nice to see Ryuunosuke all grown up and living happily with his sister. Knowing all the characters get to live peaceful and happy lives now is very satisfying. I also thought it was cute how Hizuru was writing Summertime Render, lol.
I had fun watching this anime!

This series helped me out of one of my anime slumps. Where I don't feel like watching anime or reading manga. I was able to read the whole manga before episode 5 was released (I think), and I have been getting back into so many other series because of Summer Time Rendering.
It is a cliche phase, but it is true. This show reminded me why I fell in love with anime, if not storytelling in general; to have an experience like no other, and to fall in love and experience a whole ray of emotions with amazing characters. I couldn't ask for a better show.

What a journey! honestly I didn't enjoyed a weekly mystery anime so much like this since Parasyte aired years ago (which I think shares some similarities with Summer Time Rendering ;)).

Maybe I should try to watch Higurashi and Re:Zero since this page recommended both for sharing similar themes?

Yeah I'd try Re:Zero, it's very similar to Summertime Render with certain plot elements both series use. I do think Re:Zero conveys the dread / terror of its situations better than Summertime Render though, and the impact to the protagonist's mental state is much more of a focus as well.
Steins;Gate is also kind of similar, definitely worth watching that one as well. Haven't watched Higurashi though.

Although Re:ZERO and Summertime Rendering share some themes, they are basically total opposites in my eyes. Re:ZERO is very character-driven and focuses much more on psychological aspects of time-looping and the “otaku” psyche. Also has one of the most well-written characters IMO, but I am a biased novel reader. Re:ZERO is much more dreadful.
So yeah I recommend Re:ZERO highly.

At the end of day I’m glad everyone enjoyed this anime. While being a cute and happy ending in my personal opinion this ending ruined so much of the anime for me. Now watching this ending it only really settled into my head how nothing mattered throughout this series because all it took was for them to win. So now knowing how this series ends how can I even feel emotional about anything that happened throughout the series ? Literally all the deaths , intense moments EVERYTHING didn’t matter as long as they won and that just ruins the whole point of what an intense , thriller and time looping story should be about. Of course that is just my own opinion the ending was very cute still.

You know what they say, the journey matters more than the destination, and for this anime I felt that it is especially true. Without all the deaths and trauma, we would never have gotten a happy ending for everyone. I can totally understand and respect your opinion though, there aren't many counterpoints to it that I can think of. But for what it's worth, I'm just glad everyone made it out alive, even if they can't remember what happened (for the most part - Ushio and Shinpei may from what I gathered at the very end)

From what I heard going around, the ending was weak. Honestly people couldn't be more wrong, loved the ending, interesting to see everything come back together, Its a relaxed approach the story really needed.

Agreed! I thought the ending was fantastic. Idk if the ending in the manga is any different, but I couldn't be happier with how this one panned out.

  The anime improved the manga ending a lot for giving more screen time to every secondary character and the interactions between Shinpei and Ushio, imo in the anime their final interactions felt more realistic and romantic than in the manga.

and finally it has ended, what an amazing show this is absolute one of best that has come out, I'M SO SAD TO SEE IT END but all things must come to an end at some point, it was a little too happy ending for me but it was good!? I'm hoping to see a another hidden gym in the next season! 9/10

What a show. For me personally, this is easily the anime of the year. You may disagree, but it's my own personal feelings. Every year there are one or two gems, and this year was no exception. Sure, there are others that people may classify as AOTY (Attack on Titan, Spy x Family or even My Dress-Up Darling, or very likely the upcoming Chainsaw Man). However, I like rooting for the underdog, and this anime made me feel things that most anime struggle to. Also the first opening and ending were both bangers! Thank you OLM <3 You made the last two seasons very special

What I like the most about the anime is how close it actually stuck to the manga and only fixed a few issues here and there. It was a great adaptation of a great manga and of course story. Although the happy ending might be a bit too satisfying or I guess "on the nose" for some people, I still think it was a great way to end it. It showed their seemingly endless fight, the sacrifices made, were worth it in the end.

The only issue, and a super tiny one at that, is that just like the manga the anime didn't pay too much attention on one interesting plot point: Mio being (in) Ushio's shadow. There was a great potential for more story in that relationship, the conflict between sisters. But I guess it's a very small thing when compared to literally everyone dying. Might be something for a spin-off, as a more classical school romance show or something. Who knows.

At the very least, I hope the spin-off manga gets turned into an OVA of some sort.

I watched the anime when it came out and literally just read the manga in a couple days because I loved the anime so much. I think the story addressed that aspect of Mio and Ushio as much as it should have, we saw Mio's express her insecurities through interacting with her shadow cause, since her shadow IS her, she knows how she really felt and actually said those feelings out loud. Mio also confesses her love to Shinpei and its not brushed off, she cries about it in the arms of her best friend right after putting up a strong front to Shinpei. Ultimately, what would lashing out at Ushio do for Mio's insecurities. Thats just something she needs to gain confidence in herself about, and we do see that by her confessing her feelings to Shinpei and doing what she can to protect the people she loves. I think the story addressed this part of Mio a pretty great amount.

that was such a beautiful ending uwahh i am crying but ushio is so adorable and so strong!! seeing her and shinpei together gives me strength. the only thing i disliked about this series was ryuunosukes voice as an adult but he was so cute and aa im just so happy thank you summertime rendering i will miss you

I'm very frustrated of this end, but honestly something borrows me, why are Shinpei's parents still dead ? They have been killed by Shadows but they are still dead right now - Is there a kind of replacement of Hiruko-sama or Haine have replaced idk ? 'Cus they currently make a festival for the "Haine's brithday" if I understood correctly.
Some weird things to be honest.

First: Shinpei's parents ain't dead and he shows a conversation he had with his mom about returning to the island.
Second: They aren't making a "festival for the 'Haine's birthday'" because they point out that is a coincidence the festival (which they never said it was related to Hiruko implyin Hiruko couldn't even exist in this timeline) take place the same day as Haine's birthday (the daughter of Ryunosuke in this timeline).

Feels like I've been on a journey. Even tho I felt on edge through out the last episode the ending felt earned. I hope I can find another anime thats gonna give me the same satisfaction this did.

It was exhausting.
I lost all my energy while trying to countlessly kill Shide. This ending screams "tiring journey ended with fresh-ice-cold beer" for me.

welp, the journey has finally come to an end.

this is probably the most enjoyment i've gotten out of watching an anime weekly, with me loving every single episode. i can't quite say what i'd rate it, but i know for a fact i'll have to rewatch it in the future.

also: it was funny that as soon as hizuru said she wants to write shinpei's story, i just knew she would title it "Summer Time Rendering." i burst out laughing when it was revealed that was the title.

I'm so disappointed, I liked the anime, I'm reading the manga but I can't give it more than

it was a surprise among the other animes of the year but this ending, complete despair
That's it, I'll stop here, because the more I write, the more disappointed I get

despite this disappointing ending, maybe it is the anime of the year for me (as a debut and not a sequel)
