Sato best girl
the animation was amazing. anime of the year!!!

AOTY are big words for this anime tbh. Half of the season was pretty boring.
kiddos playing amongus and minecraft servers minigames anime!!! you should watch it immediately
My considerations.
The season was good, given the circumstances presented. 13 episodes to adapt 5 volumes, on average with 300 pages. The pace, no doubt, was compromised. worse than that, was the direction. Compared to season 1. The direction sinned in many moments of drama and even with censorship at certain times.
A more experienced director, adapting a Light Novel, would be ideal. Rezero, for example, knows how to work with drama and is daring to the point of cutting the Op and ending to have more minutes of development.
As for animation, some may believe that the budget was all for episode 12, but I accept more the hypothesis that the series was produced over the release date, since the version Blu-Ray has been delayed to December.
The series is still paying for the "mistakes" made in season 1. Which was supposed to be 24 episodes, covering the entire 1st quarter (vol 1-4.5), and the 2nd and 3rd quarter could be without problems with 12 episodes each.
The Sports Festival was by far the worst adapted arc, the best was Kushida's. Otherwise, it was average.
I believe with the announcement of season 3 for next year, they can work better, both in the narrative and in the animation.
Great ending with Ayanokouji questioning if their relationship will ever change, compared to the ending of the previous season, where his competitive side and his desire for winning were shown.
Great character development
They made MC too much heartless. His personality and dialogues were quite different in LN.
"Weak people are just tools to be used by the strong."
Excellent ending that crowns a great second season, wonderful evolution of Kiyotaka. I look forward to the third season!
Waiting for season 3!!!!
:O
"Decent adaption" in your dreams.
Nice try lerche. But still a long way to making an avg adaption. Except the paper shuffle, every arc was seriously messed up.
the only problem is that its rushed like crazy, the pacing was bad. Animation shitty.
worst adaptation of al
The post credit scene was the only thing good about this episode. The whole date stuff seemed cringe to me but I'm satisfied with outcome of that. I hope the 3rd season matches the expectations of LN readers which seems unlikely but as a non LN reader this season was good for me tbh
yea this last episode was essentially filler, they adapted the 7.5 volume
The .5 Volumes aren't filler. It's Canon, the holidays betweet die quarters. There are also character developement and Story progression in them (espacially in volume 11.5, without 11.5 you wouldn't understand Year 2). But the anime just skips the developement because who knows
anime and novel kiyotaka barely even feel like the same character, it's insane how they made him so heartless and frankly edgy in the anime.
The thread "S1 and S2" and its comments have been merged into this thread.
You can view the merged thread's body below:
S2 finally ended with ep 13 and nothing much changed in Kiyotaka.. In final moments of S1 he said everyone where nothing but tools for him and with today's episode he said something similar as he referred Kei as his pawn and how he can use.. But it’s just that he accepted that there might be development in their relationship.
while watching this episode, more and more i find myself
seeing myself in ayanokoji fr fr
nah but i liked COTE S2. i read up to Y2 V4 and i still think its a nice adaptation and very poggers.
what is the meaning of the phrase at the beginning? none but some philosopher of this work will look for something that does not exist
he almost got kicked out because he pinched the camera? and no one questioned his bruises? but the camera is more important
ahahahahahaha
squint-eyed protagonist
blablabla conversion of a teenager who doesn't get anywhere and doesn't add anything
double date, what the &^@# deal, will there be a swinger at the end?
KEKW COLLEGE, someone put him as the supreme commander of the universe, will certainly solve all the problems of humanity and other living beings
ahahaha, don't smile because she's not worthy, the crazy one is god, ahahaha
but this MC is dumb as it hurts, doesn't he know that teenagers tend to be imbeciles and believe in any shit related to love? oh I forgot he's a teenager, so he's also an imbecile
It's over, hallelujah
"the fake imbecile" kekw
I watched the first season as a teenager and today I conclude:
mediocre story, characters who are "prodigies" because the author wants them to be and you believe with deus ex-machina solutions
I'm not going to expand because I've already crushed my opinion in previous episodes and here I conclude that it's a mediocre anime/LN for teenagers and people without brains blinded by idolatry
finally,
history: 0, there is no development in any aspect and they still say that they will lead something, only if it is ruin, a make-believe school that is useless
animation: 0, besides normal bad at various times
technical aspects: 0, nothing to be excited about, even below average
opening theme: 2 (because I like ZAQ)
ending theme: 0.5
characters: imbeciles doing imbecilities to be cool, mediocre MC without development with mentions of "powers?" that are never built like being a super human,
ofc..other characters are silly because the author wanted them to be so for the MC to shine
I give 1 point to the female characters, but not for their genius, just for the plot
final grade: 3.5
extremely generous because easily, I would give it 0.5 if it wasn't for ZAQ and the girls
I hope that season 3 is the last and that it never has a continuation, but the fanatics, if they want to, should buy a lot of products to boost the sales of the anime
I feel bad for Kei but that's what fools deserve
anyway, ty by s2 means you're not a fool
I‘m insanely hyped for the next season. Every monday I was so grateful for one episode of COTE. I think I‘m gonna miss this really :(
Season 3 isn't as good as season 2, but there are still some cool moments.
[Removed]
some people might disagree though.
I personally like volumes 4-7.5 more than 8-11.5
I haven't read the CotE light novel, but something tells me Lerche went out of their way to deliberately make Ayanokoji as lifeless and unlikable as possible
I could cut myself with how much bland edge oozes from his dialogue
He's still like that.
I believe everything he does is just so he can advance to class A and have them be indebted to him.
And that's why I've never really liked him
I'm not against morally ambiguous (or even outright villainous) protagonists, but he's just a hollow shell who manipulates and exploits everyone around him
Blame his dad.
Then again, Youjitsu would've never exist without the white room situation.
I'd have been fine with the things Ayano had done if
He at least ACTUALLY had romantic feelings towards the person he ended up with. Instead of only being with them just so she doesn't break down on him later on when he needs her.
Volume 11.5 spoiler ^

Great episode. They adapted 7.5 properly (with some stuff skipped but oh well) and also included the Sakayanagi scene that they skipped a few eps ago.
I just wish that every ep or at least a decent amount of eps this season had been of this quality. In the end, I can't get myself to have a very positive opinion about this show because the negatives outweighed the positives.
Ayanokouji ending the serie with showing any amount of interest to have compassion for others was honestly the one bit of dialogue that suprised me and the only I thought was legitimately good throughout this entire season.
Will we finally get character development in season 3?
Basically Ayanokouji:
not a good adaptation compared to other animes that are adapted from light novels as source material (i.e. 86, fate/zero, re:zero, etc.)
cote in an anime format honestly felt clunky in terms of pacing and details are super vague or random shit came out of nowhere
i'd much rather read the light novels instead of the anime when i have the time to read them.
and lastly, i do not plan on watching the third season, i won't be the very least surprised if it's botched
I agree
short single 2 minute conversation build up to a huge important change in class dynamic and cooperation = doesn't add anything btw
the comment about the MC being dumb and not understanding love or that teenagers are stupid is almost actually unintelligible and is a narrative you've created in your own head. Where does it ever suggest or state that he doesn't understand that teenagers believe in love? It's literally the opposite.
"characters who are prodigies because the author wants them to be" - So, the author made a story, about characters, and some are intelligent? what on earth is your point?
"deus-ex machina solutions" - The only thing that could even seem that way is his physical capabilities, which had to introduced somehow.
"blinded by idolatry" Enjoying a show because of a character = Idolatry by the way.
No development is relatively understandable since the entire anime (including the next season) is barely 1/4 into the story.
Animation i agree was definitely sacrificed for just that one fight scene, and even then it was in the dark.
Nothing to be excited about? But you have Mieruko-chan, the most boring fan-service filled show in all of existence of a girl who can see ghosts as a TEN. A TEN.
A teenager with unknown but extreme intelligence and strength is running away from his government-level powered father and is using a restricted school to keep him away, while he plays challenges and tests with the geniuses of the country, searching for and attempting to create an opponent/class who can beat him to prove to his father that natural genius will always beat "artificial" genius. And meanwhile, he fucks around with bitches, takes 4v1 fights, plays mind games, and controls shit from behind the scenes. If you don't like it, just say that. It's not boring though. (Maybe the adaptation makes it seem that way)
And again you say without development when these 2 seasons are hardly any of the story, and the 3rd season will only make it one quarter. Why would hundreds of thousands of LN readers insist enough for there to be 2 seasons, if there was no fucking development or explanation for anything?
I don't even know why i replied, nothing will fix your deep-seated hatred. Try to be happier maybe though, could get you a long way.
wup, fanatic in sight, unfortunately, you arrived at the end of the party, you only have to clean up the mess but before you want to debate with me, go back to epi 1 and start answering the questions that no one answered or tried to answer
well, your basis is my personal list, i.e. you have less morals to argue than I do but no coherent or reasoned answer was given, i.e. you failed
cuz you judges because I gave I gave mieruko 10, at least she's not a genius with god syndrome in which the other characters are imbeciles for her to shine, right?
different from OPM that Saitama is super OP at least shows him training, this garbage MC doesn't show anything and the secondary characters aren't good for nothing
but given the list of characters on your account (naruto, SnK tokyo revengers, en en, code geass, ahahaha), i already know you are a teenager or brainless, so i'm not even going to reply your "line of thought"?
but if you felt offended your problem lol
I give the grade I want for the anime, no one is paying me to watch it, otherwise I'm wasting my time with him
and he still says the anime didn't have enough time to develop character ahahaha,
500 minutes(almost 84 hours) and lack of time, 25 episodes and what progress did we have? uhm.. none
you are probably another one who comes to talk about LN and has never read it nor finished a book
have a good time
i don't even remember why i bothered replying to a comment on here last night
i can tell by your dialogue you are insufferable and have had one or two friends maximum in your life because of your arrogance and shit personality, and probably blame society or some cringe shit.
i made one line point about your shitty rating of mieruko and you ramble on for 5 lines about my personal list, completely invalidating your point about me lacking coherent answer, especially when i literally wrote a paragraph of a reasoned answer right underneath
25 episodes of anime and no progress? He started with not a single social skill, and in the short period of time made friendships, and a relationship. In terms of his mindset, yes maybe nothing changed in 25 episodes, but what sense would it make, for a genius who was raised in a fucking facility for 16 years, to come to a school and within 3 school terms just be a new person and have his entire scientific upbringing overwritten. That's like raising a kid for 16 years, then sending him to live with other parents for 6 months, and then complaining that he's not changing and switching to his new parents, like, yeah... no shit? It's a slow process, and these 25 episodes are maximum like one fifth of the story.
And if you're too shocked to believe people can read books i don't know what to tell you, maybe try it sometime. Oh wait, you're definitely a library kid, never been invited to anything, so i guess all you do is read books.
Maybe try reading the LN then, add it to your shelves, nerd.
:))
the anime was pretty ass, but most of your points were also pretty ass.
go back to epi 1 and answer all the questions
episode by episode before coming to rub your ass on the keyboard
and i want to see arguments with facts and not mere opinionated guesswork
why tf would i waste my time
Only be disappointed if what you were hoping for was more violence. Season 3 will still be pretty good, but personally yeah i prefer season 2.
Look at this time traveller coming from the future after watching season 3 to scare us. Sheeeeesh!
I read the light novel...
But I guess all anime are just magically created with no base
Wow, so their entire relationship is predicated on a lie?
Color me surprised. (sarcasm)
Yes, exactly.
And that's the kind of romance I despise the most. Even more so than romantic subtext.
A relationship that's completely one-sided. One-sided love is fine, but if the relationship itself is one-sided, I hate it.
I'm right with you on that.
If you're going to have anything romance related be one sided, just leave it as an unrequited crush. A full on relationship that's one sided is just toxic.
