Things start to take turn. Of course, Mitty is gone again. Nanachi and Riko's journey will not end here for sure.
Also, Kevin Penkin's music is broken as fuck. Really like what they use in this episode.
Faputa: I will keep moving forward until all my brethren are destroyed.
Reg: Osananajimi-no-jitsu!
Mitty and Nanachi: I bid thee farewell again.

Kevin Penkin's makes music on some drugs i am sure of it
How tf is it so good
Honestly I think the anime is a few steps above the manga. The Kevin Penkin music and the VA performances make it so much more sweeter.
IKR, imo, Misaki Kuno has so much more range than I ever expected, and this was one of the best eps of made in abyss.
I genuinely wasn't a big fan of her before this, but she clearly showed her insane range and proved me wrong. I'm happy.
It's been a little bit since I've read this arc in the manga, but I generally agree. Not only because the music by Kevin Penkin adds so much more to the experience, but also because the manga can be hard to make out at times. Also, I'm very thankful the anime doesn't have those extra pages, if you know what I mean.
hands down, best anime of the year for me. a lot of good ones, but this one just takes it further.
Best thing I've watched in a long time
Me, getting ready to watch Chainsaw man. Okay, fam.
Thos first 7 minutes though.
I skipped it. I already watched this in Season 1.
Tf lol

Even though I'd read the manga and knew what was going to happen, the music and voice acting had me bawling my eyes out. I actually reckon this season might beat season one. I felt everything.
I can't put into words how amazing this season is, the eps just keep getting better, I don't want them to end. The music, the VA, it's just too insane
This episode was really something else. The way they revealed the story of reg and Faputa, and their gravity of their history was something truly special. Amazing episode!
Nanachi having to say goodbye to Mitty AGAIN broke me
This was such a fantastic episode. Kevin Penkin's OST strikes again.
Poor Nanachi having to deal with Mitty loss TWICE.
I was lowkey disappointed that Belaf didn't do much since I was hoping he would go up against Faputa. Imagine how crazy that would be o.o
Belaf was filled with self loathing for what he did in order to survive. It would have been strange if he had fought her. I am fairly certain he felt they all deserved this retribution.
Reg really about to her EVO moment 37ed
Music gets me every time...

Definitely one of the best episodes I've ever seen and the best of the whole series. At the end of the episode I almost cried but not so much for sadness but more for the tension and intensity of the relationship between Reg and Faputa. All flanked by Penkin's music and a technical side superior to the rest of the series (I had read that the director of the Made in Abyss film directed this episode).
The episode did a fantastic job of showing instead of telling. A lesser anime would have relied purely on exposition and lore dumps to fill in the back story. This episode managed to seamlessly transition back and forth between the past and present while giving additional meaning to scenes from previous episodes.
@Ryuseishun You're quite invested for someone who's generally displeased with this season. xD
What’s wrong with wanting to make a discussion forum out of boredom on a whim?
Plus this is apparently the best episode of the season, according to everyone else here, so I see no problem.
Nobody is saying is wrong or problematic. It's just surprising.
Do you think it is the best episode of the season, as well?
Perhaps, but it's not a high bar for me personally.
sosu
I really hated that they brought Mitty back at first, she had her whole arc and goodbye last season and it felt unearned to reintroduce her here (in such a strange way too, Bondrewd came to visit with her in tow for...reasons? And Belaf was like, gimme.) It was only here in this episode where we heard Nanachi talk about her and their relationship as she said goodbye that I felt...sure, okay. This is good.
The fight was excellent, the music was fantastic and Faputa's VA was absolutely great.
I'm always eating a sandwich when watching the new episode, this time I ate tuna, perfect food to eat while watching deformed ex-humans getting grinded in a blinder
this show is really good
I'm so grateful of the anime for outright removing them or atleast toning them down. I'd much rather prefer it this way.
May i ask you what are these "extra pages" about?
They're basically a few extra pages at the end of volumes that display characters (whom are often children) in provocative ways. It's borderline pornography, depending on which volume you're looking at. The mangaka has a thing for kids, unfortunately.
i thought she already let go of mitty
s1 ending ruined
So redundant for nothing. If she wanted so bad to remain with Mitty, she shouldn't have asked for her to be exterminated. It makes the ending of s1 totally stupid. She was willing to continue the adventure with a fake Mitty, but yah, it's okay to have the OG killed. Hypocrite behavior.
