Also, the author mentioned in the afterword of the last volume that there was something he wanted to tell us about for the past 2 years in the next volume. If this means that the animes been in production for 2 years, we could be looking at more than 12 episodes

Along with that, a studio change could be possible though I wouldn't mind even if Lerche returns to adapt the sequel as long as they get someone on board who can actually bring out COTE's full potential

but for now these are nothing more than speculations so we'll have to wait until March 6th for more information

According to a reliable source, there's gonna be an announcement related to the anime on the release of year 2 volume 6 of the light novel and the next issue of the magazine that release the COTE manga.

For now, i'd say take this with a grain of salt but from what I know, the person that leaked this on weibo is reliable so maybe it's finally here.... not gonna get my hopes very high but i'm still hopeful

lmk what you think about this, especially LN readers who know what happened with the kinda messy adaptation of s1 and keep an eye out for any potential news this coming week

They actually confirmed it like months ago saying that they were instead releasing the 2nd arc instead of finishing the 1st, Ima miss the 1st arc tbh

I guess that one solution to the sequel problem would be making either a 40 minute recap episode or just start from scratch. Since they are calling this a sequel, maybe they'll just start adapting the non adapted material and pretend like they adapted the books faithfully.

I'm often told that the anime is a bad adaptation of the Light Novel, so without making spoilers, could it respect the events of the LN or change the story completely?

  I wouldn't say it is impossible to make a proper sequel, but there is a lot of changes between the Anime and LN. For example, Ayanokouji's personality. They cut a lot of his inner monologue out, making him seem colder. (You can try and read the first chapter of the Manga, though it does over-exaggerate his facial expression)
  They skipped a lot of stuff from the volumes that they adapted. It might mean they need to add some anime original content to give the information that was left out. Sometimes they straight up changed the characters. Like, when Horikita argued against the three Class C students. It wasn't her. It was Ichinose.
  I would say the major problems are likely Episodes 7 and 8. In episode 7, they adapted 2 chapters of Volume 4.5. There wasn't a need for it and again they changed one character out with Horikita. Won't say who, because it is spoilers. And it was pretty important.
  Episode 8 loosely adapted Volume 4. Again not needed and included a lot of dialogue, that is relevant for later in the Volume.
