Who is your favorite and least favorite JoJo antagonist and why? (Parts 1-8)

Best antag - funny valentine. Completely unmatched level of characterization, has a lot of interesting traits and the author even does a great job of making you care about his own ideology, to the point where people believe he's right, even though he objectively is evil. I liked how he was defeated too, he succumed to his true evil and was beaten in a ranged duel against johnny, along with him drowning in his own ideals. In terms of plot significance that aspect is also well handled, he was the one behind the race, has a very strong parallel with almost all of allied characters, the US president and the minor villains he sent affer gyro and Johnny happen to have depth and agency which is far cry from the most of jojo's. Napkin scene was completely glorious. OP stand done right and the means used to defeat him were very much fair and square.

Worst antagonist? Have to say tooru. Bad personality, his stand ruins the strategical aspect of jojo's and makes the fights he engages in really dull because his stand is completely braindead thus he has no interesting input or contribution to a battle. He fails as an antagonistic force for main characters ideals and doesn't really challenge him in any way regarding this, has no interesting parallel with anyone else and was very poorly introduced and even worse how his demise is not all that climatic. Close behind are those absolute clowns from part 1. Oh, i just realised i perfectly agree with you, OP^

I'm only aware of the antagonists of first 7 parts and only really know about the first 6 parts.

Hated: Kars. I found his motivation a bit too cliche. The Pillar men were entertaining but I wouldn't call Kars charismatic. Unlike the other villains, with the exception of part 1 and 3 Dio, they didn't have any nuance. That is not bad in and of itself, but compared to the other antagonists, they rank pretty low. Overall, he's bland compared to the other villains.

Favorite: Kira. Firstly, his stand is really cool. He was an example of normal being creepy with his first appearance. He's smart, calculated, powerful, blends in seamlessly to his environment, highly regarded by people who don't know him, luck is on his side constantly, and is one of the most twisted villains in the series. He had a major hand fetish and that was his main motivation. Not to mention his collection of nails. He cause so much chaos and suffering yet all he wanted was a normal life. Truly a twisted guy. He was both a menace and truly creepy.

Diavolo is my least favorite antagonist, cause he's just evil, that's it. He's a kind of basic villain, who is bad, because he's bad. I think, the same goes to Kars.

Fav: Kira or Father Pucci on one side, but I also like a lot N'doul and Wamuu because apparently I've got something for redeemable antagonists/misled antagonists who weren't actually evil and just on the wrong side. Maybe that's why the co-protagonists who initally were antagonists are my favs too (Foo Fighters <3)

Least fav: Hmm, I can't recall now, since I usually forget about them. Kars was kinda basic imo but still good design. McQueen was... eh. I dunno, If I don't like their design I usually enjoy them by their stand, or the threat the pose to the protagonist.

ironically Doppio is my favorite and Diavolo one of my least favorite. This dude just evil no reason and the only interesting thing about him is not even he himself.
i also do very much like kars and valentine
i HATE tooru omg he is the worst. The most interesting thing about him is his stand, wou is like so cool, but the dude himself gets introduced completely random at the very end and gets a a dumb ass back story with one of the mcs that they couldve mentioned before, but no, he just seems like so thrown in there to have a main villain. Also his character is so very bad. He doesnt feel real in ANY way

All antagonists goat , if you do talk only about antagonists and not their powers then well then my favorite would be Dio ig . <br> Least fav among them would be Diavolo or Tooru .

I think I'm the only one who likes Kars and the other Pillar Men (besides Dio) and hate all the other main antagonist since Part 4, like Kira and Doppio/Diavollo (in both, look and personality). To me, Jojo was an anime/manga of macho characters looking like machos and behaving like machos, with a Hokuto no Ken style. And the Pillar Men were the best representation of that: three sexy guys (actually 4 if we count Santana) full of muscles and wearing just a brief while doing sexy poses that reminds to Machio from "Dumbbell Nan-Kilo Moteru".

Since the third part, they changed the hamon by the stands. I didn't like that but the anime still had the macho characters, so it was too bad to me, but I still prefer the part 1 and 2. And since the part 4, the macho thing disappeared, replacing the muscles by slim characters with painted lips and femenine look (more frequent since part 5). And in the part 6, they directly replaced the male characters by female. If Stone Ocean was released these days, I could say it was affected by the modern femenism activism, like happened with He Man Revelation. You can see this clearly on the Jotaro of Stardust Crusaders and Stone Ocean. On part 6, Jotaro is slimmer and look younger,, with whiter skin and even cuter.

So, I cannot like any chacter, including the antagonists, if they don't fit with the original style of the anime that made it popular in the beginning. Also, it's not just the looking, but I also hate the personality of most characters since part 4. Many of them behave childish or have absurd reactions. The worst of all it was Doppio, especially when making the phone sound with the mouth, it made me feel ashamed.

And, this may seem to be unrelated with the topic, but even the colors changed in this anime since Part 4, where everything looks more colorful while in part 1 to 3 everything was darker (you can see that in the image above comparing the Jotaros). And this affects to the characters too, including the antagonists, where they look more colorful, like if they came from a carnival, especially Diavolo.

I won't be annoyed if they put those characters in some other anime, but to me, everything since Part 4 and beyond, is not Jojo. It's a different anime to me.

So, considering all that, to me the best antagonists are Dio and Pillar Men. They fit perfectly for the original essence of the anime. Yesterday I was watching again the first opening of Jojo and I just could wonder "where is all that now?".

Pucci is probably my favorite because he said some shit that was kinda facts at some points, but he's also clearly a delusional fanatic who uses his supposed moral high ground to argue that he is correct in every conceivable way. Tack onto that his objectively terrifying stand powers and their evolutions, plus the fact that he literally almost won, by killing off nearly every character except Emporio, he's definitely up there. Kira is a close second, just because the thought of a deranged serial killer hiding in plain sight is a very real threat in most countries and he has one of the coolest, if not simplest, initial stands in the franchise.

Least favorite is probably Tooru, for the same reasons as everyone else. While Jojolion is incredible, Tooru added nothing to the plot or charm of that part, just a ridiculously funny stand power. Diavolo's next, because I feel he had the most potential to be great but ended up falling flat for me.

I really liked Kira as an antagonist because he was just so strange and insane and was very memorable. But I also thought Pucci's mindset was fascinating so he is a close second.

My least favorite like many others is diavolo. I don't hate him but the only thing I really remember/liked about him was doppio's turururururu

Best: Probably Kira because he is pure evil, but he is also very calculated and just generally Killer Queen is a badass stand with powerful abilities perfectly suited for Kira due to the fact that he wants to live a quiet life and not stand out among people, which is perfect to have KQ because he can erase all evidence against himself.

Worst: Probably Diavolo because he started off as an intimidating OP character with a perfect counter ability to every stand up until this Part of the anime (not including manga because i dont read manga often) but when Giorno is about to stab himself Diavolo does the most embarrasing thing ever to start begging and try to negotiate as to why he should be the one to recieve a Requiem stand. Everything up until the actual battle between Giorno and him it seemed like a lost cause for Giorno. Honestly the last fight was very underwhelming in a way because Giorno seemed to have tougher fights than the final one, because he never really fought Diavolo with regular Gold Experience it was all chase Silver Chariot for the arrow and nothing else. When Giorno actually fought Diavolo he recieved his Requiem of Gold Experience and it was a cake walk and thats it Part 7 completed. (I loved Part 7 though overall just not the final battle)
