A movie will also be released after that and that both the anime and movie might have different story endings.
i can understand needing a movie for the finale but it would be strange to make an anime original ending.

i doubt it, it makes no sense for them to make a movie since the manga material is already finished unless they still wanna milk aot for money, but I think it will at least be more than 12
Im speculating more of a 16ep length part. Seems right to me with all the story they need to show

i heard about the possibility of mappa making an attack on titan movie to adapt the final ten odd chapters or so, it makes sense considering that there are still 30+ chaters to animate in 12 episodes

I know its the most common theory at the moment that this season will end on chapter 131 and leave the rest for a movie. However, wouldn't the movie have to be like 3 and a half hours long? Even longer if they choose to expand on the manga ending and give things a bit more time to breathe. This doesn't seem that likely so either they rush it in a movie or they made an 8-10 episode final season part 3.
Isn't the last episode confirmed to come out at like the end of Aprill? If so then there's not really much content left tbh, i think they'll make it in this season, especially since rumbling is already happening.
There are 15 chapters left and 5 episodes left. They’re adapting 1-1.5 chapters per episodes so there’s no way they suddenly double/triple the speed and finish it like that.
Really? Personally i feel like they adapted the Grisha memory arc too fast, but well maybe it's just me, since it took me sometime to actually read through the whole manga.
The Grisha memory thing is one and a half chapters in the manga and one episode in the anime, so I don't think it was rushed at all
well i 100% think they're going to make a movie based on the amount of success anime movies in Japan are doing - but idk what they're going to do pacing wise and stuff

At the current pacing (one and a bit chapters per episode) there's no way it even gets close to the end in 12 episodes.

The adaptation is so slow and there's no way they can cover it all in just 2-3 eps.....
it is kind of confirmed that this season would end at the point where chapter 130 ends in the manga. so the chances of a s4p3 are very high (not sure about a movie tho)
I don't think there will be a part 3, it will be kinda weird cuz it will only consist something like 5-8 episodes. So im 90% sure there will be a movie, it makes much more sense at least to me.
I've heard more speculation about it getting adapted into a movie rather than a part 3 since it would be an awkward number of episodes, but the chances are very high that the last few chapters will get adapted somehow
Probably will be a movie. According to leaks ep 11-12 will cover chapter 129, 130 and 123. That leaves 9 chapters to be adapted after. I could imagine these being adapted into about a 2 hour movie. I feel if they tried to adapt them into a part 3 then the episode count would be very low, maybe 6 or 7 episodes? Also movies make a lot of money.

No, that's not what's being said there. "What if you all discuss whether this final season will end the same as the original story?" It isn't about deciding about "staying true" to the manga or not, but about "if" it will end the same as the manga - because the decision has already been made. The very fact a different ending was brought up in a official event to promote the Final Season, Part 2 all but screams what said decision was. And Kaji's panicked response to it "Please don't think of this as foreshadowing!"
As for where do I see Isayama, well, if the anime will have a different ending, and it certaintly seems that way, it's at the very least with Isayama's consent. Because MAPPA can't do whatever they want.
