'Osama Ranking is such a masterpiece' I am not gonna say it's not but didn't it just start? Did you read the manga? Shows like it are niche, but that doesnt mean its bad. Most my favs are niche too

I was gonna say the same thing about this. The same case also happened to Odd Taxi back then when the first few episodes screened. Just like what mod said, people tend to skip because the character design doesn't appeal them, the visual looks childish, or unluckily coincided with other shows that more popular on that season. But after word of mouth from some influencers, stream providers etc about Odd Taxi people actually give it a chance and look now, it racked up 86% score on AL. I say wait for few weeks. It's too early to judge based from 1 episode.

I totally agree, but let's just not call it a masterpiece yet after just one episode. It's definitely going to be amazing in the production aspect but we have yet to see how the story is going. First episode was a great first episode no doubt there

Great question, the point here is that when they rank it high, that will bring more people to have the chance to watch it.
For example imagine if there is an anime with rating of 7/10 that got this rating because some users thought the drawing does not match their criteria of a modern drawing. Then this will make me miss that anime and plot because of this general view of Animes among people.
And this made me sure that I already missed many animes just because they were ranked low, and that is just sad.

well the mean score is 80% so i don't think it's badly received. it's true that some people might not like the art style but for example in odd taxi's case everyone started saying it's a masterpiece, i don't think this anime will be overlooked.

I watched the first two episodes after reading this thread, it's interesting enough to binge once the entire season ends (just how I watch anime nowadays) but more importantly, tell people why you like something rather than blaming people's different tastes in anime.

Why should someone watch this seasonal show despite it's looks?
What edge does this seasonal have over the many others?
Why do you consider this show a masterpiece despite one episode being released?

I'm not specifically asking but these are just questions that can easily be answered when making a thread like this, instead of putting down people's favorite/popular anime series which in turn makes you seem petty. Rankings be damned, just tell people you enjoy the series, rave up and down about how enjoyable it is.

And i actually love the animes that i mentioned in my thread, and of course i consider them all masterpieces as well easily

  I read the summary, which I agree but if you're going to make a post talking about a show and giving it a chance, give a reason why people should watch it. Saying generic blanket statements like "It's a masterpiece" or "the anime surrounds your senses" means nothing to a reader on the forum since people enjoy completely different shows. That was the entire point of my post that you somehow dodged entirely

It will all come down to popularity. People who like something that is not popular will definitely feel upset that a good series is not seen by many.

This is probably due to the perception many adventure or action type AniManga carry. I don't like the art style of Ousama ranking, in fact the childish drawings contradict serious tone created however Ousama ranking is very unique and to be honest, it is slowly (very very slowly) changing my opinion. I'm sitting at the very of giving this an 8/10 score.

I would argue some of the anime that maturely handle serious topics tend to be more "childish looking". Ojamajo Doremi is a fantastic example of this.

  @Taluun I may not have seen many anime that fit your argument in particular but I do agree. Good writing certainly does play an effect on the ambience created. The childish looking art style contrasting the mature tone does set the scene very well and is favourable however, in Ousama ranking specifically I struggle with it just a little but enough such that my opinion remains the same. I have yet to see the whole season so I might change my mind later.

Just got into the anime now and i agree wit most of what u said. like, even when I browsed the currently airing section on anilist, it never popped up. Mostly just mainstream shows are recommended. It's only after I knew the name and could search for it that I could find it on here.

some other person mentioned it will rise through word of mouth like Odd Taxi did & it's definitely starting to do so. what's frustrating is knowing a lot of more casual anime watchers will still not bother to give it a try T-T
