Alright, name some manga that have done this cliche at least twice during their publication. Try to put as many as you can and include the chapters that it happened or just some actual pages.

  a lot do, but to prove my point on that I don't want to bring in heavy spoilers. Sometimes they display this cliche through other characters, but caring for the enemy and enemy backstories is a common theme.

    I don't care about spoilers. (You should still mark them or put a warning for other people though.) And just to be clear, I'm talking about those two tropes happening at the same time. Not separately.

It also happened with turbo granny. Not to the extent of acrobatic silky, but it did happen.

    Yeah but in the thread it's not only the "getting sad about the enemy's death". I also mentioned the "getting the enemy's backstory at the end".
    Also, isn't Yuji (specifically) sad about killing a human in this scene? In the other series I mentioned, they were killing "monsters" that used to be human.

I feel like tanjirou is a bit of a unique character. Not in the sense that he is extremely kind but in the sense that he barely has any character development. His only weakness was his kindness and within the first 3 episodes he overcame that and now he never hesitates to bring a sword down on anyone who deserves it.

Also the cliche of having sympathy for the fallen enemy is pretty common. Not just in anime but in any other type of media as well. It's common in actual human history too.

Definitely a common trope in any sort of media.
It's one of the ways that makes "very kind-hearted" protagonists exist after all.

In some way Yes, but I think the kindness will go away if the story becomes darker (I hoped so). Plus I think this is more similar to JoJo rather than Kimetsu no Yaiba, cause you got a fight with someone and then befriend with them when you understand the backstory of the one who you fighting with.

In some aspects yes, but DS focuses more on the battle shonen aspects and plot(despite it being mediocre in my opinion), while dadandan its more slice of life school battle shonen, and less serious.

I think compassionate protagonists have just become more popular nowadays and that's probably gonna happen more and more from now on since KnY became this huge thing. Compassion and kindness have actually become a huge thing for Gen Z and in general (like a desirable, respectable trait, not that is more common then in other generations), so maybe its bc the audience is changing; the writers are younger also (most of them Millenials i think) and trying to do new things. Since those softer traits werent as popular in the 90's and 00's (not in this way at least) they might just be all trying the same "different thing" who is not what they were used to reading... maybe
