you can binge them easily/dont have much dialogues
so kaiju no.8 has advantage over others cause its in a well known magazine and is doing what it needs to do to be popular (like most other popular manga)

Tbh I like it for character design, specially kaijus. Also cause I find Kafka relatable (except for the whole kaiju 8 thing). It's good enough to keep me interested and has potential, something appreciable since the oversaturated concept of kaiju

I have only read like 4 manga in my entire life so i dont know whats generic or not, but i recently started reading kaiju no 8 and its straight heat.
The manga has nothing going for it but people still eat it like hotcakes.
From new SJ manga, Dandadan is much much better.
The way I see it, being generic is fine, it's just taking that formula that is unoriginal and making it as good as possible. Seeing as this is a three month old forum, I know that Kaiju No. 8 just does its action EXTREMELY well. It's just a well executed battle manga and the main character is a middle-aged man which is an odd pick. Not to say it can't have rough spots, but it is well executed and if something is satisfying ya don't really need to make a unique feeling.
@RojoMF can you give examples on what you meant by Kaiju doing actions well? because I genuinely think it fails on that aspect extremely hard
Just in the most recent chapters, the battles have had a really nice flow to them. The art has impact, and for a series about Kaiju that's precisely what you want. Each attack feels as if it's backed by the power to level a city, and the way it's drawn really gives way to that. Especially when Kafka gets his battles, and recently, the General's battle against Number 9. It's been really good. Is it the best? Probably not, but very good. If you disagree with me, that's totally fine.

i honestly can't believe that kaiju is getting this much hype when it's literally just a mix of every cliché battle shounen trope and it doesn't even have a gimmick shounen normally have that makes it different to other battle shounen.
the characters as well are so damn boring and 1 dimensional, look at JJK(gojo) or MHA(any main character) they have characters that stand out but hey even with all its flaws at least the art is solid.. basic style tho ~~okay are we just gonna forget how they replaced Reno you know the guy that was introduced as the side kick main character got replace with that blonde bratty girl and its even forcing this ship with her and kafka,they didnt even bother playing it off as a partner like relationship nope it was the plain old tsundere shounen girl trope

Kaiju N°8 is Attack on Titan meets World Trigger.
You have the MC who can transform into the monster the organisation wants to destroy.
You have the other guy of the trio who seems to be weak but is a strategist -still to happen in Kaiju-
And you have the girl who is OP and might have ties with other members of the organisation.
Outside of that, Kaiju is your typical generic battle shone manga with a lot of pacing problems.
Is not bad to be generic, but even generic series have something that differentiates it from the rest, and Kaiju for now doesn't, it needs to find its charm.

I'm halfway through right now, the kaiju power really interesting and awesome ngl but the writing for its characters and plot is painfully generic.
