Someone showed me Attack on Titan in late 2015. Yeah pretty standard stuff.
I haven't seen aot yet I tried the first episode a few days ago but couldn't get into it.
Fair enough. yeah its not the best show anymore for me, but at the time blood, gore and cool action was the best for an teenager like myself.

Like most people, it started off with shounen anime. I remember being young watching Dragon Ball Z amv clips on YouTube with awful background music (2009ish). From there I asked my parents to buy me a DragonBall Z DVD for the first season. Then, back in 2013(?), Toonami aired Naruto at night, and I got hooked on anime again, with this being only my second anime, which fully initiated me into anime this time around.

I watched the CCS premiere on Cartoon Network because I thought Sakura looked cute and haven't stopped since then.

Well, more exactly I watched some anime series since I'm little, but I watched them like I watched a live-action series or movie. Like Cowboy Bebop, Noir, Library Wars, Death Note…
But in mid-2015, I decided to watch a bunch of LGBT movies. After watching Memento Mori, a Korean lesbian movie, I became quite fascinated by it. Thus I wanted to watch similar stuffs.
That's when I remembered that I watched Sasameki Koto few years before. So I watched it again, then discovered the GL community and various GL anime. Nowadays I consider Sasameki Koto as my "first anime" even if it's not technically the case, but it was my real "starting point".
I kept watching only GL anime up until I saw that there isn't much of them, thus I naturally started to read GL manga in June 2015. Girl Friends being my first one, it's also the first manga that I brought.
In the following months I extended into gender bender and BL. Few time later I started to watch some popular things, notably sci-fi, some pretty good like Ghost in the Shell, others pretty bad like Steins;Gate.
As I continued to watch/read older and older GL/BL/gender bender works because there isn't much, in mid-2016 I came across Thomas no Shinzou, and that's how I fell in love with old-school shōjo and how I discovered my fav' mangaka, Moto Hagio.
Now I'm really into shōjo, and still interested by GL/BL/gender bender obviously. But not much outside of it.
I watched a lot of shounen when I was a kid. I watched Dragon Ball Z and Naruto in Cartoon Network. From there I watched Bleach, Hayate the Combat Butler, and Keroro in Animax while still being able to watch Naruto. Then I regained my interest in anime just last year when I watched Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, Death Note, and Noragami.
I also got back into watching anime again after watching Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. Made a MAL account to keep track of everything shortly after, but we all know how that ended up. I wasn't even there for what felt like a week.
When Dragon Ball Z was airing on Toonami in the early 2000s. Besides that show, my uncles showed me Akira around the same time, so I've kinda been watching Anime for almost as long as I can remember. Though I wasn't an avid watcher at the time, and mostly watched whatever happened to fall into my lap that I liked.
I'd have to say what anime made me fall in love with the media was Yu Yu Hakusho. I watched that during middle school, so it hit me at a pivotal point in my life, plus Yusuke was a character I could understand. I like the way he thinks.

Most people I know who got into anime started when Naruto was first airing. I just happened to have relatives who were part of the nineties anime boom.

its...a little embarssing to say because i know people are gonna laugh at it... but i used to watch like anime cracks in mid 2016, i then saw a yellow with a hole class...so i looked up that anime and suddendly i was already done with 2 seasons of it...suddendly i saw one punch man and i binged watched that, then after a while i saw a interesting site where all the anime was i could imagine (im not gonna tell the website, but most of the people already know what i mean) i kept watching anime cracks and suddendly i have a list of 210 anime xD
Friend asked me if I knew what anime was, said no. He showed me SAO. I fell asleep before getting halfway through episode 1 and thought anime was stupid. Next day, decided to give it another try and watched Yuru Yuri, fell in love and the rest was history.
I remember watching Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and whatever else used to air on that 4-Kids/Kids WB/Cartoon Network/etc. block on Saturday mornings/weekday afternoons in elementary school. I was also a bad child and would stay up late to watch stuff (usually .hack//Sign) on Toonami and even set an alarm so I could wake up and watch InuYasha at 4am hahaha. That lasted until I was traumatized by the chimera episode of Fullmetal Alchemist at the ripe old age of however old you are in 4th grade :weeps:
I think I switched from sporadically watching whatever was on TV to actively seeking shows out online around 6th-7th grade, so 2006-2007. Those were the dark days when you had to watch episodes in parts on Vevo (I think it was that site anyway lol). It was pretty casual though and I usually just watched whatever I had seen on TV but from the beginning. I didn't watch a whole lot of anime in high-school since, you know, real life/etc. and also my living situation was sort of weird but I really picked back up around late 2011/early 2012 when I had more freedom~
TL;DR it's always been a mess but it's been a nearly lifelong interest thanks to tv programs/blocks that aired anime!
Believe it or not, I saw a video on Buzzfeed where people who have never watched anime try it and they showed a clip of Kill la Kill. I really wanted to know what happened next so I got Crunchyroll and that's how everything started. Thanks Buzzfeed I guess.

True haha. I actually tried watching it again recently and I wasn't into it all.
I had 25 minutes to kill every morning and evening in the public transport, had a friend who was into animes and I just thought "why not ?"
Being probably one of the older people on the site, I think my first introduction was pokemon, sailor moon, dragon ball, cardcaptors etc. when I was a kid
What made me start downloading subbed anime was Gundam Wing. I started with chobits, .hack//sign, and then got into Naruto back when it was at episode 81 in Japan. (and this was all on a 56k modem LUL)
Started watching anime around 2004 with Naruto/Detective Conan but never really got into it until around late 2014, it was during my painful 3 to 4 hrs break in college that I fell in love with it. Just quietly sitting down like a weirdo in the corner of the library watching Kaichou wa Maid-Sama!
Started pretty much the same as OP, and hated seeing anime related things. But my curiosity overtook that and i started some Highschool DxD ripoff that i keep forgetting the name of, and now i'm here.

But I really started watching many anime in 2014 when I discovered both streaming and my passion for anime
I got into anime after taking an interest in Sword Art Online season 2 on Netflix because I thought that the guns in the anime looked cool. Later on I realized that there was a season 1 and then marathoned both season 1 and 2. After that, one of my friends suggested Kill Me Baby, (which I love), and then after that I started finding different anime on my own.
I finished Avatar the Last Airbender, saw a Screwattack death battle for Toph vs Gaara in my youtube recommendations. Searched who this Gaara kid was in youtube, watched Rock Lee vs Gaara and the rest is history...
