Thanks bro
Yoshihiro Togashi was born on April 27,1966 and is older than the late author of Berserk, Kentaro Miura who was born in July 11, 1966. He is an older man than Miura and seeing what this scheduling has done for the Miura, let Togashi have his rest. Togashi suffers from Lumbago (lower back pain) as well as mental exhaustion from working so hard as a mangaka.
I'm not asking you guys to ditch all the "Hiatus x Hiatus" jokes (which aren't funny) but just be more considerate of someone before you make this comments. I would much rather Togashi rest and not have to think about Hunter x Hunter.
Thanks bro
manga is kinda his job though
That doesn't mean he's obligated to do it. You do your job because you need to or you want to
I don't even read the manga yet but I think it could be nice if he just wrote the story which is indescribably less exhausting than drawing manga and just hire some artist to put it out. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.
Kentaro Miura died due to acute aortic dissection. I'm not some medicine expert but saying that he passed away because he resumed releasing Berserk on a semi-regular schedule is pretty bullshit. It took me 15 seconds to find this article https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/aortic-dis… which explains the causes and risk factors of this injury. I recommend you to read it and consider if it's right to compare high-intensity weightlifting to drawing. We don't really know any details about Miuras' death as of now so we can only assume that resumption of Berserk may have caused him some additional stress, increasing his blood pressure and leading to his early passing. Saying that he died due to "this scheduling" is just spreading misinformation.
Firstly, I never stated that how Miura dies due to an aortic dissection, I didn't even state why Miura died at all. I also didn't compare mangaka to professional weight wrestling lol. Yeah we don't know much about Miura's health and personal life so talking about his release schedule was wrong of me. I agree on that point although the long working hours of being a mangaka does lead to health and physical issues. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/happens-body-dont-get-…
(it is a clinical website so trustworthy)
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/repetitive-strain-injury-rsi/ .
Both of these sites state that the conditions of being a mangaka are hard and someone suffering from Lumbago especially is worse off aren't they?
P.S I'm not some medicine expert, just read the sites listed.
Im way too tired to fully respond and I aint in a mood to argue so lets have it ur way. although i gotta say u didnt fully get my point, not sayin that ur point is baseless tho
same lol I just finished writing to catch up to so many assignments meaning that my hands have basically just been typing for the last 12 hours. Well I guess we can let it rest.

That guy's plain lazy, have you watched Yu Yu Hakusho? Worst final in any medium I have ever watched. So bad the guy had to apologize to the fanbase. I don't know why this man came up with HxH after complaining how hard it was to write Yu Yu Hakusho and all the problems that comes with writing manga
How the hell is he lazy if he physically cannot drop another chapter due to his condition???
yeah right you can't tell me that my man's struggeling to sit down and draw chapters for 3 years. I don't buy it but if you do that's okay everyone can believe what they deem correct
I'd hardly write off the guy that came up with the story of Hunter x Hunter and the creator of the Nen power system as simply lazy. He is probably stubborn and very controlling of his own work which is probably why he refuses to hire an assistant to do most of the drawing for him. Also he is very rich, so he really doesn't need to write any more. He is already set for life. Hunter x Hunter is little more than a hobby for him. It is possible he lost his enthusiasm for writing after a burn out. So I think a more accurate word to describe him right now is unmotivated and not lazy. I could be wrong, but that is just what I think.
The thread "Why doesn't Togashi get some people to help out with the art?" and its comments have been merged into this thread.
You can view the merged thread's body below:
I don't get why he's so stubborn about doing the art himself while in his condition. I'd prefer he take his time than rush through things like he did with the final Yu Yu Hakusho arc but the release schedule has me worried we'll never see a proper ending. If I'm being honest, as much as I love Hunter x Hunter, the art is probably the least impressive aspect of the manga imo.
We've seen far more pages filled with exposition in the current arc and I can't help but feel that's largely due to Togashi not being well enough to handle everything on his own. Nor should he be expected to! Hopefully this doesn't come off too whiny and of course his health comes first, I just don't understand why Togashi is allowing himself and his manga to suffer when other people from his staff could help lighten the load a bit.
I totally agree, tbh I didn't like Hunter X Hunter Art so never read it, if it's getting worse then I'm worried, Togashi should get an artist instead of being stubborn
It's his decision, no one here can answer that. So I don't think this thread will lead to anything.
I love the art of HxH but i was wondering why the newer arcs looked like a novel with all that text.
tbh i'm just resigned to the fact it's never gonna end and it should have ended after the chimera ants anyways.
I disagree, aside from that one infamous page with only text, the last two manga arcs and especially the last few chapters have had some of the most consistent art in the whole series. Greed Island and some of CA suffered way more before the re-draws for the volume releases, and for these latest arcs no re-draws are needed at all, because it looks just great.
I also heavily disagree with the statement that Togashi's art isn't impressive the only people who say that are those that read Tankaoban online
the volume edition art is amazing Togashi has this reviting sense of detail with backgrounds which play a huge part in every arc like York New or the Palace from the invasion arc
I also love his tone shift which you can see with the sense of anatomy he can draw his characters relatively simple or gruesomely detailed with the muscles extremely outlined
it adds to the shock and horror part of HxH which mixes the hopeful adventure aspect with gruesome and disturbing art
the art in the 2011 version is fine and consistent which is great but it lacks the detail of the manga

"aside from that one infamous page with only text"
So a lot of pages. Especially hisoka fighting chrollo, or any of the nen abilities explained in the latest arc, or really most of the pages in the new arc. At least a couple every chapter of mostly text.
"the last two manga arcs and especially the last few chapters have had some of the most consistent art in the whole series"
I don't think hunter x hunter has ever had consistent art. The dialogue pages have always been super simplified and togashi seemingly just decides which panels he wants to try really hard drawing, and which ones he wants to draw as quick as possible. Not to disrespect him as an artist, which he is clearly very good at when he wants to be.
He wants to finish it himself so let him. It's better if the story remains incomplete than someone doing the artwork against Togashi's wishes.
We can't know his thought process, all i can assume is he's very prideful in ways. Tbh his wife could easily take over as artist while retaining his own style too.
yeah. his wife has been credited with helping him with his art before if i'm not mistaken.
bruh her profile says she worked as Assistant (Screentone: Vol 1) in hxh
so wtf is he thinking !? too much ego!?
theres a fine line between being prideful and egotistical
Man is an artist. Just let him do whatever the heck he wants to do
i mean, i'm not stopping him. i'm just questioning why. it'd be a shame if we never even saw an end to the current arc.
He has good art imo
TL;DR he doesn't wanna give someone else the job of bringing his vision to life
its his art, some Mangaka like help to deliver their stories and others feel that only they can convey what they want to, I actually had this thought when reading One Piece, I was looking at the backgrounds and wondered if Odas' assistant was truly able to capture Oda's vision, probably did to an extent but was really curious.... and then thought of my self as a perfectionist and I would not be able to give up control to someone else to create my vision, its respectable and stupid at the same time.
He wants to do everything by himself. If I recall, there was an article about him getting annoyed by this stuff. I wish he wasn't so stubborn but it's his life.
My theory is that he's taking a break partly because he isn't as passionate about HxH as he was in 1998. The story hasn't really made any thematic progress since the Election arc and it's full of tedious exposition. There's no way someone who cares would write something that boring. I've also never heard of back pain so terrible that it doesn't go away after 3 straight years of treating it. But I'm not a doctor and I don't know the guy personally so I could be wrong.
who knows. Im satisfied if HXH were to officially end rn anyways. Best anime ever either way
Ummm
Can’t say I agree with any of that my friend
just my opinion sir. take it with a grain of salt
fair enough
Having someone else draw it would still require him to write it, and I’m convinced he’s just had writer’s block for years.
I always agreed with your idea. I was like : Pair him with some drawer like Yusuke Murata.
It is ok, Bouichi and Obata are finishing their current series. The other "fanfic" re-writters for One Piece are also free.
Tons of other talented people in Jump's freezer.
People here are forgetting that drawing takes a huge toll into the mangaka's health, and Togashi's health is never at the best.
I don't think he is not drawing, but they just let him work his rhythm and when it looks like there is enough they start publishing.
ego
most likely this is the case
