For me, it started off pretty well, then dips up and down, and finally, it plummets since the Fourth Shinobi War arc was absolute trash.

I'll spoiler how I generally felt about the major arcs in Shippuden:

Rescue Gaara arc: Great
Reunion with Sasuke arc: Decent
Hidan and Kakuzu arc: Good
Sasuke Assembles His Team arc: Decent
Pursuit on Sasuke arc/Jiraiya vs. Pain arc/Sasuke vs. Itachi arc: Amazing
Invasion of Pain arc: Amazing
Capture Eight Tails arc: Good
Flashback of the Assault of the Nine-Tails arc: Great
Five Kage Summit arc: Great
Fourth Shinobi War arc: Trash

around ep 55, but the quality to be noticeably better would be around eps 150-200

A lot of people felt that way. My friend and I bash on how terrible it was each time we talk about Naruto LOL. We used to be diehard Naruto fanboys, but not anymore due to how terrible the climax of the series was. It wasn't completely trash to be fair, but majority of it was. Especially the introduction of Kaguya. That was some utter bullshit, man.

  It's not just the writing that takes a dive so does the animation in the war arc they got real lazy with some of the episodes (put spoiler tags on the image so the post is easier to read)
  That being said despite all that Shippuden has one of my favorite episodes in all of anime namely the one shortly after Asumu dies the direction in that episode is AMAZING it's such a cut above everything else in the show and personally like it a LOT, maybe even more than the final Sasuke vs Naruto fight episode
