The opening fucking slaps.

I was waiting on the second episode to hear if the OP was going to slap... and they fucking delivered.
Boy oh boy, this series can be a masterpiece, if it keeps going like that. 2 episodes so far and can't wait for the next one. Feels!

I really like the shamisen music but the part when his mum started singing I personally didn't like and the rest of the episode felt like a solid 6 to me so I feel like, at the moment, the most I could give this show is a 6 unless it takes a turn later
The singing is definitely an acquired taste. I heard it first a few years ago and it kind of caught me off guard, but the more I listened to it, the more I liked it for its uniqueness and emotion. Especially for a Japanese audience who would already know what sound to expect, it worked very well I feel
Love the OP! BURNOUT SYNDROMES are the best. I really like how the shamisen is used in both the OP and ED.
Setsu's mother is, uh, quite interesting. I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought Setsu's brother was his dad lmao.
Their faces when they saw their mother on TV lol. Priceless.
I call it now.
Anime of the season.
Or at least for the music genre for the entire year coming.
I'm not big into music genre but heck, this one got me after only one episode, made me legit start looking around for Shamisen music on youtube and I think I've listened to 30+ hours on Spotify of music using the Shamisen.
The second episode stacked up top it, never heard before about Kouta singing... and heck, I already know what I'll be listening waiting for the next episode.
The school arc will surely be strange, but as far as I've watched, most music genre have an highschool tag so that they do sports competitions and stuff (to grab that training for beating others kinda feeling).
But as we can see Setsu isn't so much interested into it.
And yes, he talked about the song his grandpa improptu-played... I want to hear him play it by the end of this season, that is better than any school-related competition kinda stuff.
Okay, where do I start? Another great episode, I'm loving it so much, the art, the atmosphere, the directing, the animation, the ost(the OP and ED are absolute bangers), the voice acting(the characters accents have such a unique vibe), man, I got shivers when he was performing that song with his mom, I dare to say that this is a contender to anime of the season.
Pov: you are listening to the ED of Mashiro no Oto
Honestly? It's ticking off all of my boxes. From the voice acting, the music, the singing, the animation - I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. Even the conflict(s) seem fresh and different compared to other shows in the same genre.
For this episode specifically, I really enjoyed the kouta singing and further insight into the family dynamics, and I'm really interested in seeing how the school side pans out. I imagine it will result in Setsu finding his own sound rather than chasing after his grandfather's sound, but I'm curious to see where and how the story is going to take it.
But yeah, overall thoroughly, thoroughly enjoying it, and I cannot wait for episode 3!
The MC have a harem LUL
The girl from his hometown, the girl from Tokyo where he lives, the girl from Tokyo school. And also the girl he lived with a while ago in Tokyo (what happened in episode 1)
SASUGA in just 2 episodes.
Shamisen looks interesting. I like these types of anime because I am discovering more about the culture of Japan. It will be a Kono Oto Tomare style but more dramatic from what I see. I like! The opening is pretty good (I think a shamisen is used there too)
That scene where the 2 brothers start playing their composition together is some peak emotional shit. Great watch. Hope to see more from this anime as it is just getting more and more interesting as the story is starting to progress.
this was beautiful, the moment the mother sang the first note...
my heart cried and there were tears in my eyes. so beautiful
I like it so far, my favorite character is definitely the mother. The building harem is a bit annoying but I’ll just ignore it cause I love the shamisen/tradition music
I cheer for Setsu x Shuri, but if Yuna returns one day, for Setsu x Yuna. I don't think this will become a harem, I hope so.
I don’t ship anyone cause I dislike romance In general so I was hoping this anime wouldn’t have that. Also mc is 16 and the girl he lived with temporarily in Tokyo is 22
I have never heard shamisen before and so far these two episodes have made me almost cry with every performance.
The performance of sutsu with his mom almost made me cry and I got goosebumps its just amazing
This show and Super Cub are probably my most favorite ones this entire year. I appreciate this form of music so much, and when Umeko started singing I was wowed. She, or the voice actor, has an amazing and strong voice and I love that they included that in the show. I didn't know I needed shamisen music in my life until this anime and boy am I thankful. Niche things like this need to be publicized more.
That girl from his hometown is annoying
We have completely different tastes cause romance is my favourite genre :S
