@ErwinDanchou69 what do you need motivation for? Isn't curiosity enough. That's what got me into One Piece, and that's the core reason I still love it to this day. I jumped into One Piece for fun, and that's what I found, among many other things. I would honestly suggest to dive in and take your time reading/watching it slowly. Before you know it, you'll catch up. First of all, you need to give it a chance ^^

@Couwah I am pretty sure Earth and Wind devil fruit exists. One of them has been foreshadowed already (Wind). It would be weird to only include some from the elemental section xD

(I also can't tell how far into the story you are since, I'm guessing, you're gonna update the episode count at some point in the future.)

@KawaiiChiaki Haki gives the user the ability to negate and pass over the effect of the devil fruit. In other words, I am sure Haki would be the right way to pierce through his guard. For logia users, I am a bit uncertain if they would be able to pass through Barto's devil fruit. Guess it depends on what it's made of, but if they use Haki, there is no doubt in my mind anyone could get through his guard.

@ccbestgirl it's the result of inhaling and breathing One Piece for as long as I can remember. I was not good at theorizing before either. Now it comes naturally to me. One of the biggest reasons is cause I know the story inside-out after reading and seeing it several times. It doesn't mean at all you're a fake fan if you can't come up with theories or prediction

@Detigerz i'd say for now it's Ulti > Who's Who > Sasaki > Drake > Black Maria > Page One. Almost similar to you except for the last two being quite the opposite.

I think the manga could just barely finish within 5 years if everything goes exactly according to their schedule/plan.

But, I also think it's safe to assume that it won't last any longer than 7 years.

As I said above and in my original post. I am pretty sure Oda is playing tricks on our minds. Luffy's story of becoming PK and getting OP will end in five years. Afterward, we will have a war that will make others' war look cute and pale in comparison. In other words, we got at least 7-8 years left before One Piece concludes.

You should start reading the manga when you feel the anime is getting too slow for you

@AshVolcano the anime is a solid ride till the time skip but afterward, it really drops the ball with the pacing and production for a long time. You could watch anime up to that point and then continue from the manga. My suggestion would be to start with the manga. It got a colored version, in case you didn't know. Add me on Discord and I can link you to it. Otherwise, anime or manga. You can't go wrong with them if you got patience and curiosity

just one pace the slow arcs, i did that my first watch and enjoyed most of the arcs people say the pacing ruined

@pixelspeech One Piece is definitely one of the more dialogue-heavy series out there. Especially after the time skip, you can see how much information and context we are getting is larger than before. But I can assure you there is more than enough and good balance where you can just admire Oda-sensei's incredibly unique and evolving art-style. You are never too late to get into One Piece, just make sure you're enjoying yourself and don't find yourself at some point reading it just for the sake of catching up.

@KefWeeb unless you don't have time, but have a slight bit of curiosity, then you should just dive right in and take your time savoring it. One Piece is huge, and the first 100 chapters are regarded as a prologue. It's an evolving story, and you will always see the world dynamically changing and so forth.

Trust me, One Piece has goals, but those goals are entangled in a giant spider web of all kinds of intrigue and wonders. It's got the best world-building I have ever seen, a lovable and well-fleshed out cast of characters that grows at a tasteful and realistic pace. The storyline starts simple but gradually gets more complex and involved. One Piece is a must-read masterpiece. I would suggest reading my review if you want to know what you are getting yourself into.

Manga, you can't skip any chapters. Everything is canon. Anime, on the other hand, you can find a guide on the internet. But the early fillers are wonderful and deepens the world. If there is one filler you have to watch at all cost, then it's G8, which is considered one of the best fillers.

One Piece is a shounen, but deaths do happen, but they are not very frequent. However, Oda-sensei tears your heart apart when they do happen and crushes it into millions of bits. This is the one thing I would consider a huge flaw to One Piece. But not really. When tragedy hits you, you will see yourself tearing yourself up unless you aren't a human. There will be emotional death and many other emotional and heart touching moments.

Totally, Luffy is the best Shounen protagonist ever and IMO of all time. He is unique and might give you a semblance of Goku, but trust me, he is nothing like that emotionless fool. Luffy is very complex and is maturing slowly throughout the journey. He is an absolute blast of the main protagonist. He is unique from top-to-bottom.

Just to expand a bit on question 2:
The goal is very much the same throughout. To find the One Piece, it's in the title, it's in the first page, and clearly it's the driving force of most of what happens in the manga.
However this goal doesn't necessarily require fighting and although fights happen and are very much the climax of most of the arcs, the vast majority of One Piece is exploring the plot and the story. I don't think one is a One Piece fan because of the fights, even if some of them are genuinely fantastic.
Either way, each arc does have it's own personal goal, from finding a good cook, to find a place to cure a disease, to find clues to find the One Piece, or to save a Kingdom from a tyrant... and each goal, even if at first doesn't look like it at first, ends up being related to the overall point of the manga, to create the best crew out there and find the One Piece.

@nostolagi, when I started One Piece, huge numbers of the episodes didn't overwhelm me. In fact, I was searching for stuff that had a lot to go on. But I never imagined I would love One Piece as much as I do now, and it would become so important to me. The first day I began, it was a bit of a slog. Even if I enjoyed bits and pieces, it was not that fun. This quickly changed on the second day when I got the more exciting bits, and I remember bingeing around 30 episodes till I caught up from that point on. This was something I did without really taking notice of how much I was watching. Plus, this was during the Summer Holiday, so I had a blast in one month with binge-watching One Piece. It was one of the best experience I ever had

To be completely honest, when I started One Piece back in 2018, i didn't actually know how many episodes there were. My sister showed me episode 1 and I went from there. I never really questioned the mass amount of episodes since id watched numerous long series in the past. only when I got into the fandom did I realize...

@kodekai trust me, I wouldn't be making such a thread if it was no worth the time. Watch or read you can't go wrong with either of the two. If you don't mind taking less time, then watch since the anime is solid up to Timeskip and deepens the world even more than the manga

1. Devil fruits are more or less confirmed to be manmade, and Oda-sensei has hinted that Vegapunk might know its origin and how it works, how to even create it. But if it's not, I would guess the theory that it grows on a legendary and ancient tree for devil fruits seems a safe bet. Tho, I am sure Oda-sensei will astound us when we get to the truth.

1. There all kinds of possibilities to where Laughtale could be. Moon has been frequent a topic in One Piece, so that's likely at this point. I mean we do have the means to reach other dimensions or places like with Blueno's door fruit. So more devil fruit of that nature might exist out there. I think it will be quite ancient-looking and in ruins. Seriously, thinking about anything of Laughtale gives me a headache. We do have clues as to what Oda-sensei might going for, but it's not sure yet as he has been great at keeping the crucial parts hidden.

1. If we are talking about in wano. Then the most likely candidates would be Law and Kine'mon, possibly Marco. That's my guess at least.

@darkphantom In all honesty, besides deaths not being a regular thing in One Piece. Then again, it's a Shounen so it's to be expected and it's more of a nitpick anyway. That's right, I don't really dislike or hate anything about One Piece at all. It's the closest thing to perfection I have seen and nothing has surpassed for me and probably never will

The thing is, we don't know either. It's never explicitly stated however there are some theories that he lost it during a huge part of Mihawk's training

@KawaiiChiaki you are still consuming something physical and I am sure that devil fruits manipulate and change your body structure, even changing the cells allowing you to benefit from its perks. In other words, if you consume two devil fruits. That might cause conflict with the previously established changes in the body and the body might not be able to handle it causing it to explode or deteriorate in other ways

@Igeljaeger One PIece was meant to end after five years of serializing but Oda-sensei kept coming up with new and exciting stuff to expand the story further, that's why it's so long. His overwhelming passion for writing and drawing manga is what kept him going and his love for his fans. Oda-sensei is the embodiment of a legendary author that are also doing things at his own pace, not letting his fans' perspective affect his story.

Why is it bad, you ask? That's a conclusion you came to yourself and something you should regard as an opinion, but calling OP bad is not the right way to go about it. It's honestly childish as anyone who has read just a slice of One PIece can tell it's a well-written piece of art. You can still hate it but you should be able to appreciate its positives.

@JadedFreak it's not a bad question at all if you got any just shoot. Don't worry, devil fruits are not be-all and end-all. There are ways to negate its effects and reach an equal standing even while being a normal human. This is the true power system of One Piece. Going any further would be very spoiler territory, so hopefully, this gives you the answer you were looking for. And, no. There isn't any God or angel fruit. The only fruit that exists which gives the user ability is devil fruit, but some might or might not try to experiment and see what more they can get out of it.

@smt that had to be one of the earlier ones. For me, it's between Orange Town and Syrup Village. I think I am leaning more toward the latter. I really didn't like Usopp in the beginning and he still is my lesser liked among the Straw Hats. Otherwise, none of the arcs in One Piece are bad and all are well executed and written. Some more than others, but you get the point. But Syrup Village is my most disliked out of all.
