Yachiyo Hitotose

The protagonist of Nirvana. She is the reincarnation of the Goddess Sakuya.

Yachiyo initially appeared to love to help others, but actually hated it because her mother spent all her time helping others and not with her. She felt she could not save the world because she was half-hearted in her motivation. However, she eventually decided to continue helping.

Yachiyo spent a lot of her childhood alone because her mother was always busy with volunteer work. Her mother promised to visit her on her 12th birthday, but was unable to and died shortly after informing Yachiyo she could not make it. Yachiyo detested helping others because of her mom and nearly died in a fire but was saved and taken to the hospital. There she met a doctor who was saved by her mother and explained to Yachiyo why he and others help people. Yachiyo then tried to be be helpful, and became known as the modern "Florence Nightingale" because of it, but truly did not enjoy it.
